Very nice Scanlations. And this confirms that the Anime is starting to differ from the Manga. Too bad because these scenes look pretty bad-ass.

Nope. Read my stickied FMA Timeline thread.

Ed & Al are 11 & 10 in 1910 Feb. They are definitely 12 & 11 at the end of the year. The only logical explanation is that their birthdays are after Feburary.

Hence when Elysia is born in 1910, Ed was 11 or 12 depending on if his birthday had passed by then on her birth. 3 years later in 1913, Ed would be 14/15. But since the Leore incident stated he was 15, the story takes place after 1913 Feb. Hence when Elysia turned 3, he was 15 going on 16.

But whichever it is, the anime is not likely to be ahead on timeline than the manga.

You are correct. Rewatching ep6 reinforces that anime Ed's birthday is on the day of or before Elysia Hughes' birth. Hence anime Ed is 16 as of ep 30.

However manga Ed's birthday is not on the same day as anime Ed. Reference: Vol 4 which contains the arc for ep 23. No references to Ed's birthday though Elysia's was mentioned.

Hence manga Ed is likely to be younger than anime Ed by months even though the timeline has passed through the same year/month.

Note that event wise, Chapter 34 has already finished the key fight of our current anime's arc. Hence the manga can be said to be ahead instead.

I updated the Timeline thread to reflect the birthdays. Thank you for that.

Well, it depends on if I can get the raws and time to do so. Also if I feel able to handle the translations since my lessons in Japanese are not complete yet and I still feel my ability in it still needs some hard work.

It's hard to say about the RAWs.. it can vary from one week from the initial release to one month.

Today, I wandered into Kinokuniya and found Gangan June waiting for me (no scanner, so no scans). Picked it up and read Chapter 35 - The Sacrificial Lamb. Whoa... I seriously didn't expect to turn out that way...

Yes, and I seriously look forward to your English translation this time; reading the raw just isn't good enough (I have trouble getting Chinese scanslation now).

Actually i was always wondering how they translated 鋼 to Fullmetal.

To my knowledge of mandarin and japanese 鋼 means steel not Fullmetal...shouldn't Ed be called the Steel Alchemist instead of Fullmetal Alchemist...?

It has been discussed before. We're guessing they changed it to 'Fullmetal' to make it sound more 1337.
