One thing for sure is that the OP is pretty awesome. I love how they play on the relationship between Alibaba and Aladdin quite a bit there. I won't spoil anything about it since it's extremity plot-related (just watch the last shot in the OP, it's a pretty big hint), but let's just say they did a pretty good job conveying this.

Spoiler for quoting previous posts:
And more from the original concept arts of Aladdin/Alibaba Spoiler for image size:
Obviously a later stage of design than the last, as it's gotten more arabic styling. Aladdin used to be hooooooooooot

kinda disappointed with episode 1 since they decided to entirely cut salsa and Leila part
and it feels so slow-paced even though they cover quite a lot in the manga maybe because they put some additional/anime-only scenes which make this episode quite draggy for manga reader like me

Well that was really different from the manga but it didn't seem rushed or bad at all. They mixed a lot of things up but in a very nice way. This is obviously where most of aniplexs money is going too so im not surprised at the very good animation and music. Though i hate how they made mor a damsel in distress.

excellent first episode, the lack of character polish for fluid animation is something genious to make on an action anime, the backgrounds and music was utterly woderful, ive readed the first chapters of the manga some time ago, but iv'e seen to forgot about them, as far as first episodes this season this is the best.

I haven't read the manga but this was a pretty solid episode, I think the last time I saw something like this was the first ep of the first FMA anime. As creb said above, it's just a nice, solid shounen adventure show. Nice pacing, nice characters, nice animation, nice music, VERY nice voice acting (damn, Kaji Yuuki has such a good voice)... I hope they'll be able to keep this quality.
And aaahh, now I see why people predicted that Magi will replace Kuroko no Basket as fangirls' darling... xD (re: OP) |

I've read the manga, so I will be passing on the anime for now. Will do just like my favorite shounen, One Piece. Marathon it after a few episodes, take a break, rinse and repeat. Hope you non-manga readers enjoy this, one of rare shounens that are actually good.

Nice first episode, though they skipped a few chapters
Those man boobs, they definitely need a gif. Elizabeth definitely is a character from Hokuto no Ken Another surprise was that Alibaba is voiced by Kaji Yuuki, the same voice actor for Haruyuki from AW. I knew that voice sounded familiar

This is a great way to start a series off. A lot of good things to say about it and I'm really quite interested in seeing what happens next. Alibaba really did help make this such a good start. The inner conflict and difficulty trusting others. Just waiting for him to take action and be honest with himself. Though I did also like how he took the episode to actually step up.
So yeah, good start to the series. Definitely one of my favorites so far.

First episode was pretty awesome. I don't have any complaints.. other than that ED. I really tried to like it.. but bleh.. maybe it'll grow on me once we get an actual ED sequence.
I'm guessing that Alibaba will get the flame powers shown in the OP in that dungeon.. unless he already has them.. Quote:

Ishihara is doing a good job, though I imagined Aladdin's voice slightly deeper.

Is Alladin a girl or a boy here?
Slave girl was interesting, wondering if she be a recurring character. They kind of just left her there at the end. I assume she's just gonna be showing up for no reason at all during various adventures. Her slave girl moe was pretty nice. I wonder if she stay mute the whole time. The vore at the end with the plant was pretty hot, I have to admit.

Lol Aalddin burying himself in the guy's man boobs. Glad Alibaba chose to fight back. Hope we see more of that slave girl. Is the whole part with him and Ugo supposed to be that short or did they just do that to save time for the adaptation? Lol a giant djinn ody with a flute as it's head.
