I think this can be used as proof that shouting the loudest or forcing an opinion, even if morally correct, does not make it right, and people are more difficult to accept a forced view.

Saving doesn't necessarily lead to investment.

Hoping that things go bad so that the AKP gets even a bigger loss in seats the next election.

How come? From what I hear, this article isn't exactly biased because I have a friend from Turkey who thinks Erdogan and his party's done a lot of good to its people. He isn't exactly what they would call a tyrant like Mubarak and Gheddafi.

While the macroview of the economy may seem nice, he's been destroying the agricultural base of Turkey without compensating them with enough jobs in the developing parts of the economy. He's done "good" by not ruining things for the rural areas, but this is not going to last long with what Erdoğan has been pursuing.

Plus, I support CHP, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party.

It's funny how following these macro-economic policies always has a negative effect on agriculture. Either someone isn't doing it right or it's a simple case where finance and agriculture don't go hand in hand. I will discuss this with my friend and see where he stands.

NEW YORK (AP) — As the gay-rights movement advances, there's increasing evidence of an intriguing role reversal: Today, it's the conservative opponents of that movement who seem eager to depict themselves as victims of intolerance.

To them, the gay-rights lobby has morphed into a relentless bully — pressuring companies and law firms into policy reversals, making it taboo in some circumstances to express opposition to same-sex marriage.

"They're advocating for a lot of changes in the name of tolerance," said Jim Campbell, an attorney with the conservative Alliance Defense Fund. "Yet ironically the tolerance is not returned, for people of faith who don't agree with their agenda." .......

*cough* total bullshit.... I'm sure the people who stone little girls to death for being pretty feel like victims too when they get hauled into court over it. This is more of a classic move by intolerant jerks who ascribe their own motivations to people who call them out.

Ain't their massive savings that are cushioning their extensive public infrastructures?

Syrian opposition blogger "Gay Girl in Damascus" turns out to be hoax.

Here's the blog.

Turns out that an american guy named Tom Mcmaster in Edinburgh is the real "Amina Abdallah Arraf ".

Used photos stolen from this woman who appeared on tv a few days back.

Strange Strange Strange. This could have interesting consequences...

It certainly gives them a "club" to claim all the "hooligans" are being motivated by outside enemy forces (the usual claim by authoritarian governments when confronted by their own citizens).

In what may be more appropriate to put in "News of the Silly", I watched a fair amount of the US Republican presidential hopeful discussion tonight. Lets just say "creating a narrative unconstrained by facts" came to mind frequently. I'd compare it to..... oh, saying Roosevelt was responsible for the results of the Hoover administration disaster (1929 meltdown and the after effects). Oh wait, they think we need MORE 1890s-type robber barony to fix the country.

And even if they're being bullied... good.

No matter who takes the presidency, I get the feeling it'll just be the same story over again: unemployment, taxes, unrealistic college and mortgage fees, fail foreign policies, what have you. I keep wondering if it even matters anymore.

You can choose from "corporatist column A" or "corporatist column B"... either column means some group of transnational corporate overlords screw the peasants *cough* citizens around.

My point exactly. No matter which side I pick, I'll still get screwed unless I'm one of the rich fat men the peasants vote for without even knowing

What's the point, either choice is wrong Besides, I don't feel the need to vote since I don't live in the US.
