Gainax: Studio discussion, speculation, and whatnot

Might anyone know what this once semi-prolific studio has been up to?

The last Gainax series that I can recall was 2005's silly over-the-top, He is my Master?! (Go Anna-chan! ) I would love to see more shows like FLCL or Kare Kano.

This new mecha series might prove to be some interest:

It's from the director who did Dead Leaves so there will be crazy action action scenes!

There's a retelling of Evangelion coming next year also. I don't if Gainax is involved in it, but I think they are. There's also the forgotten Neppu Kairiku Bushilord.

This might be a better bet for seeing what Gainax has been up to. The only work they've produced in the last year or so seems to be the new Gunbuster. They're also working on an original Gunbuster compilation movie.

They're not as prolific as big names like Sunrise, Madhouse, and Bones, so their output might not even reach a full TV series a year; there was even a two-year gap between He is my Master and Gurren Lagann.

Don't worry, they'll be around for more breast physics and budget cuts.

Plus they have the Evangelion movies to be worrying about. Well, at least they're involved.

They are making the Eva movies right now and just finished with the two Shikabane Hime series.

Sorry to rise this thread from the depths of 2009 but the question is begging to be thrown out there: With Imaishi, Nishigori and Anno moving away from Gainax will the studio keep up what made it famous or will it turn into just another one?

I beat the PS2 game, Samurai Legend Musashi, a few days ago and was surprised to see their name in the credits. Not sure exactly what they did with it though. That came out in 2005 though..

I'm no longer up to date with anime, why are they leaving Gainax?

3 important people who worked on Top wo Nerae!, Evangelion, FLCL, TTGL and Panty and Stocking. Seeing that they directed and did story boards for these series means that they are important backbones of the studio. If they're gone, it would be a great loss for Gainax.
