So is he calling his Zanpakuto's name, or is he about to release his Shikai? It'd be pretty impressive if he's done all he's done to this point with an unreleased Zanpakuto... Even Zangetsu is in a state of constant release.
My first thought was FF7, actually. On a different note, Kenpachi has finally gone and joined the "I was just about to win but said something stupid" club. Rule #1 in winning in Bleach should be "Shut the f**k up". At least his mistake wasn't along the lines of "this is how my ability works and this is how to break it".

That said, the chapter simply shows more of Gremmy's capabilities and weaknesses: "Think enough and you win; think too much and you die."

Well, this is how Kubo shows to his readers that Kenpachi is going to win (not that there was ever really any doubt). Gremmy was the first to reveal his ultimate trump card, and we all know that in Bleach, there's no surer sign you will lose than that. Even more sure a thing than explaining your power.
I mean Christ, Kenpachi hadn't even removed his patch yet. Gremmy's toast.

True. It could only work maybe if that turns out to be Aizen's real power. *cough*permanent bankai*cough*
But for villains in Grimmy's position having imagination powers is pretty stupid I agree. He could have had something more along the lines of summoning all assortments of weapon and what not would have been good enough and similar here. Besides being able to kill with a thought (the vizards) and not being able to do that again.

call me old fashioned but i'd prefer these shitritters to all be quincy archers of some kind. i'm cool with some far-fetched arching abilities. but call me crazy, i think the characters are what should be interesting, not just their powers. i couldn't possibly care less about these shitritters. they're all 1 dimensional and their powers are all totally different and make no sense at all

So knowing his sword's name allows for Kenpachi to trade his sword for a bigger sword. Cannot say that I really expected anything else. Now we know this fight will be over the second Kenpachi starts using two hands.

Fitting Shikai for for Kenpachi.
I'm starting to seriously get the feeling that Yachiru is actually the manifestation of his Zanpaktou. Why else would it flash back to him asking her her name, claiming that she didn't have one, and then stating he didn't have one either. Seriously, I've been claiming this theory since that scene was first shown, and now it seems to be gaining more credibility. Taking bets now, 3 to 1 that Kenpachi releases his bankai in the next chapter Same complaint as the last chapter though. It felt REALLY REALLY short
