There are pages in Japanese on the Web that explain in detail how to make a pillow-cover based on a downloaded image of an anime or game character. This basically involves printing it in sections on an ink-jet printer on paper used for iron-on transfers, and then ironing it onto cloth.

On the pages from companies that sell dakimakura (抱き枕 "hug-pillow") covers, there is a category of "doujin" covers, created by individuals or groups.

There is even a book on Amazon Japan called "Let's Make a Cute Dakimakura."

So Akiko coming up with a pillow-cover of herself is not as much of a stretch as I thought when I saw it. But, of course, in the anime it's just a joke, and it doesn't matter if it's really possible or not.

Yes, one could indeed think that he's gay there. While in other series, it's generelly the MC being too clueless / too daft to notice the girls like him, it's very different here: he actively notices the other girl's interest (heck, it would be pretty much impossible not to notice it) and actively rejects them all. Thus, it's really not far-fetched that he swings the other way. A certain quote might fit here: "He is as straight as a goddamn rainbow."

He really needs to masn up and then do them all, inluding Akiko, so she doesn't feel left out.

Spoiler for Episode 7:

Arisa Takanomiya is a 12-year old Akito's cousin who excels around everything, making her a top model, which shocks everyone. One day, as Akito's harem go to the park, Akiko asks Arisa to prepare challenging at many obstacles. Because Akito sees them as little sisters, Arisa become a love rival, which causes Akiko unstoppably arguing with her at every minutes. This is my favorite OniAi episode, as I absolutely love Arisa's character design and childish personality, making her adorable. The love triangle antics are fun to watch without falling into the drama trap, which is rare for a harem like this. The slow pacing is still here, but the decent amount of character development and the semi-risqué fanservice make this show enjoyable, not counting the great humour progression. I can't wait to see the beach episode that's going to be delivered on the next episode or later (as per usual harem formula).
