A serious wow and disbelief at that post.

"Wow... Hmm? WOW!!! Hmm......... WOW!!!"

Very creative. Guess I don't think it sucks now.

Yuukyuu no Tsubasa (Game opening) -> Eternal Feather.
It could easily be translated into several other things, but I believe that it's the generally accepted translation.

Of course, these all came after the game was named "ef", so we'll probably never know why it was called "ef" in the first place.

It's also the sequel to ab - A Tale of Beginnings, and cd - A Tale of the End.

I love these two anime but I have to admit Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Fist of the North Star couldn't sound any more cheesier if you watched them eating a cheese pizza. Candy Boy and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS are misnomers because the former is yuri and the latter isn't about Nanoha anymore.

Tiger and Bunny also sounded pretty cheesy; it turned out to be as cheesy as I expected when I watched it. Not that it's a bad thing though.

Edit: I almost forgot about Bleach. Did Kubo ever explain the meaning of the title or was he just smoking something strong when he thought of it?

I've heard ideas.

-Ichigo's hair looks the way bleached black hair does.
-Kubo's likes Nirvana.

Another stupid name, Legend of Zelda

The worst of all "Legend of" titles has to be The Legend of the Legendary Heroes. That's about as comically redundant as it gets. Its original title of Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu is redundant too but it has kind of a cool symmetry to it.

Clannad.

In fairness, its short and easy to pronounce. Those are its positives.

Its negative is that the name tells you absolutely nothing about the show. I don't know if "Clannad" is even a proper word, in English or Japanese.

This wouldn't bother me at all, except Clannad is a very good anime that deserves a name that jumps out at you more, imo.

"Clannad" is a Gaelic word that means "family". So, it technically is a pretty appropriate title, though yeah, not exactly eye-catching as most people would likely not know that without looking it up. I kind of like it for its simplicity and hidden meaning though. Same with Kanon and Air.

Too bad this thread came out back in 2008. Nowadays, you can just insert the "This Show Has a Title Way Too Long to be of Any Use" of choice.

Do all titles have to be in English or Japanese to be good? Le Chevalier d'Eon isn't a super inspired title, but it's not all too bad.

There's an Irish band by the same name. But it's still sort of a bad name unless Clannad uses a lot of Irish references.

Wasn't "clann" the Irish Gaelic word for family? And that Clannad were the ones who added the "-ad" part?

You may be right, I'm just going by what I saw on the internet years ago when I was curious and looked the title up myself. Either way, the "family" meaning is what the title was intended to convey.

Kanon is a reference to a song that has a repeating verse that becomes more "beautiful" each time. It's directly referenced in the series and is used as a metaphor for the protagonist returning to a town he once spent time in and reliving his memories with the people he met while strengthening those bonds.

Air refers to some significant things in the plot of the series but going into specifics would probably be a spoiler.

Key's titles may seem random but they tend to have meaning.

They're both classical music references:

Pachelbel's Canon in D Major
J.S. Bach's Air on a G String

It should be noted that just because a title may have a meaning, that doesn't mean that it's any good.

It may means as “Trouble” in Japanese but once they romanize it, the title became strange and doesn’t make any sense.

Most of the only "legends" to speak of aren't about Zelda. They're about the goddesses, or someone else.

Fate/stay Night. There's probably a reason for that title, but it just sounds weird and confusing.

Also, not a title, but the extra thing tacked on Symphogear's title card: Meteoroid falling, burning and disappear then...

Swansong of the Valkyries sounds friggin epic, though, so at least the main title is alright.
