you see, Eruru is a great healer, but she can't tank.. AT ALL... and every darn enemy unit rushes her and killing her in 3 seconds. This happens so often that I call her Eruru the suicide healer.

putting her on Mukkuru would have solved this problem

but anyway, Karura is next. I'd say she's one of the strongest, if not, the strongest ally Hakuoro can have.

Ahaaha, love that little bit (that I could understand) when Hakuoro finally gives in and explains (he's wise to do a 'need to know' basis) what the Strategy is.

Interesting way of achieving a delayed detonation with chemical explosives. This world's alternate war technology is intriguing.


As for letting the enemy take one of their own empty forts... reminds me of that battle in Romance of Three Kingdoms where said empty fort was then turned into an inferno that trapped a 100k army in (and then the rain came, as predicted, which led to using Flood tactics immediately afterwards). Yes, good strategy of Empty Fort (Oboro would also be intimate with the layout of that fort, allowing for easier infiltration and sabotage). Somewhat expensive, but better to wreck objects than spill excess blood I guess.

Wow, this show keeps getting better and better.

I absolutely love Hakuoro as the leader.
Is is calm, intelligent, forward thinking, and NOT Superman.

He does not have to defeat every enemy in one on one combat to progress the storyline at all.

This has turned into the best show on air right now, imo.

Considering that they promptly slaughtered the fort's remaining defenders, they probably didn't do it to prevent spillage of blood, but rather to destroy the enemy's ability to fight, without supplies they will have make a hasty retreat home and wait to get resupplied, which is really the only way that Hakuoro could fight a much larger force at this point.

Chapter Twelve: Fire Attacks

There are five kinds of fire attacks:
One, burning personnel;
two, burning provisions;
three, burning equipment;
four, burning stores;
five, burning weapons.
Using fire attacks depends on proper conditions.
Equipment for fire attacks must be available beforehand.
There are appropriate seasons for using fire attacks, and appropriate days for raising fires.
The appropriate season is when the weather is dry;
the appropriate day is when the moon is at Chi, Pi, I, or Chen.
These four days are when there are rising winds.
Generally, in fire attacks, you must respond according to the five changes of fire:
If the fires are set inside enemy camp, you must respond quickly outside the enemy camp;
if the fires are set but the enemy is calm, then wait, do not attack.
Let the fire reach its height, and follow up if you can, stay if you cannot;
If the fire attack can be set outside, without relying on the inside, set it when the time is right.
If the fire is set upwind, do not attack downwind.
If it is windy all during the day, the wind will stop at night.
The army must know the five changes of fire, to be able to calculate the appropriate days.

Hitting enemy's logistics is the very basic of fighting an invading army. You cut off their food supply, and they'll crawl back one way or the other. Actually, putting that into practice, however, is more difficult. I also think Hakuoro was brilliant in inviting the enemy to use one of his forts as staging point for their logistics line and burn it all down. It's a pretty bold plan.

Reminder of my motto: "Information warfare > Logistics warfare > Tactical warfare"

Hmm, I guess it would be impossible to hit at the Logistics level no matter how many of their own soldiers they sacrificed, considering positioning and superior enemy numbers. They did need a second fort to pin down that large force afterall. Still, my point was that it's better for Hakuoro's price to be an inanimate fort rather than a large portion of his army to pull off this attack - reputation-wise that'll go down better.

gomenasai, I got updated news from this...after all, there will be utaware eps

Take note that that only applies to tvk. Omni originally had a long note explaining why tvk aired this episode nine earlier than the other channels, but that became unnecessary once the other channels caught up.

In other words, Utawarerumono will continue airing on its normal schedule (Monday late night) on the channels it normally airs first on (Chiba TV and asahi tv). So, expect episode 10 next Monday. (random curiosity)
