The original trilogy will live on for a long time as a trilogy of classics, but George Lucas is a total has-been. I'm not looking to get some Star Wars nerds all riled up, but it is true. The new trilogy isn't even good. Let's just face it, it isn't. And George Lucas needs to stop adding bad and stupid things to the original trilogy.
I suppose I can get my flame suit on, but hopefully some people in this thread will agree with me on these things.

I liked the prequels. I'm not a fanboy, but if you ask me, the Star Wars franchise isn't complete without them. I guess whatever was "bad" about those films flew right over my head.
But I will agree, this looks ridiculous and stupid:

Back in high school, I liked Star Wars Episode I because it was the new Star Wars. A lot of people were excited for it. I saw Episodes II and III in theaters, but somewhere along the way, me and many others were like "These aren't that good". I guess they are alright, but they don't approach how good the original Star Wars trilogy is, and I won't defend them just because they are Star Wars movies.

As someone who saw Episode IV at the Mann Chinese Theater in Hollywood on opening weekend in 1977, I can honestly say that I've been a fan for most of my life. The new trilogy has stuff I thought was pretty cool, stuff I thought was pretty lame, and stuff I thought was pretty meh. Do I hate the new trilogy? No. Will I go out of my way to defend the new trilogy? No. Everyone has their own opinion about the movies and I pretty much leave it at that. I've seen all the arguments for and against and it's all rehashing now.

I said the new trilogy is "alright, I guess", but I won't defend it. I draw parallels with that and the Metal Gear Solid franchise and some of its games. Some of the Metal Gear games I like a lot (MGS 3, MGS 1; I love MGS 3), and some of them I don't like much and am disappointed in (MGS 2, MGS 4). Or similarly, there is the Matrix movies. The Matrix 1 is a classic, the two sequels, not so much.
