Well, if they stretch it, it might be 26. Here is a list of how many chapters have not been animated from each volume of the manga:

vol 1 - 2 chapters
vol 2 - 1 mini-chapter
vol 3-7 - none
vol 8 - 4 chapters
vol 9 - 2 chapters
vol 10 - all 6 chapters
vol 11 - 4 chapters
vol 12 - all 6 chapters

Akari becomes a Prima and can't wait for whatever wonderful experiences may be coming up.

That, or Amano surprises us all and we find out that Akari gets demoted back to a pair by Alicia in an unfortunate turn of events.

Oh thank you so much for giving away the ending. [/sarcasm] You pretty much told us everything. I guess that since Alicia was flirting with both Akari and Aika, finally Aika couldn't take it any more and stabbed Alicia to death. Then when Akari came across Alicia's dead body she lost it and killed Aika in retaliation. Oh bloody wonderful. I so~oo didn't want to know that. Oh... Or maybe you just meant that Akari was going to get a really pretty gondola...

I just realised there are two new anime series coming out in January, both set in Italy and both with shadowy organisations which train young girls to do jobs nobody else can do...

"Gunslinger Girl - Il Teatrino" and "Aria the Origination".

I had this sudden vision of the new Girl, Arisu-chan and her "fratello" Athena-sempai. Arisu's signature weapon is a gondola oar with which she decapitates and eviscerates her victims. While singing.

The ending of the manga is near but I still haven't purchased a single one of them. I guess I'll wait for the it to finish before purchasing the whole series. The only thing that sucks is I only understand a little Japanese. Oh well...

Can't wait for Origination! But I do hope that this will not be the end of Aria anime. I want more!

Same here, but Aria has such a replayable quality about it, I can watch just about every episode again and again without ever getting bored. New content is nice, but what we have already is amazing

Heh still a little over 24 hours until it airs. I'm very much looking forward to it.
Though for those waiting on fansubs from the regular player, you'll have to wait a couple weeks. Waiting for the release of the CD singles of the OP and ED songs, which is 23 January. I would say it's a small price to pay for ensuring the lyrics to the songs are perfect from the very start.

It's kinda sad that some slice of life series barely get the recognition they deserve simply because they lack love triangles or a truckload of jokes for every episode. (ARIA, YKK, Zettai Shonen, etc.)

Yes, it can be very hard to notice them indeed, I didn't, even though I knew about Aria for about a year now. But for those of us who finally recognize such greatness, we get to be treated to some of the more poignant, heartwarming and incredible episodes in anime ever
