One of the most Gigantic SinkHoles I've ever Seen (Pictures Inside)
This sinkhole just opened up after a storm in Guatemala City (around 330ft deep!). My first thought? Photoshoped! because it seemed too smooth.. However after doing a lil digging, it appears this sinkhole is actually real! That being the case I have to say this is one of the most ginormous things I have seen in a while, I recall a similar instance in Florida but this one is way bigger.

Yeah, I've seen this yesterday and made a note will talk about it once I get a chance to log in. As I logged in today, I forgot all about it thanks to the relentless spammers that needed to be dealt with. Anyway, that is an amazing display of the type of destruction nature is capable of. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
The question is if it is nature that did it, or if it was a well or something that was covered under the pavement?

Other questions... where did all that land mass go? How in the hell are they going to "fix" this? I don't think anyone living there going to remain without fear. Maybe Guatemala could make this into a touristic attraction

Does anyone know if there has been a lot of rain in Guatemala City lately? Because that could account for the sudden creation of such a large sinkhole...
Various different rocks (probably the land mass that fell into the hole as well as undissolved bedrock), and possibly a stream. Sinkholes are often created when the bedrock of an area suddenly (or gradually) is dissolved by the water table (precipitation can also lead to sinkholes in certain areas (a town in Pennsylvania has the moniker "Sinkhole Capitol of the World"))... |

If it was the old days, they'd fill it with garbage first before sealing it up . |
