CLANNAD for PlayStation 3

Way back in 2005, Interchannel brought visual novel/love adventure Clannad to the PlayStation 2 in Japan. Clannad puts players in the shoes of Tomoya Okazaki, a male high school student. With graduation from senior high school only one year away, Tomoya will spend his final year in school in the close company of eleven heroines. And you can imagine how that will go...

Now, the title is destined for the PlayStation 3. While the PS2 edition improved upon its PC original by including voice acting, we're not yet sure what improvements are in store for this new version. But hey, we have a gallery linked below with screens, artwork and random bonus stuff, so check it out! And no, there's no NSFW images, as much as it may appear otherwise.

Clannad is scheduled for release on April 21st in Japan.

Why exactly is this news now? Clannad has been on every platform at this point, from the Xbox 360 to the PSP.

The PS3 port was even announced last year, so it's nothing new.

Is there a point in buying this version?

I mean, we all have played the other version like in PC or other platform, and after some years of this series' hype was over, they released a new version without advancing the story or anything

The point being that people who have yet to play the game can now play it and even more easily now on the PS3 seeing as how there's no region lock on the PS3.

Chances are those who are into anime (or in Visual Novel for this matter) and got PS3 already played the PC version.. And those who are NOT into VN and got PS3 won't even bother playing this game.

How many of us would waste roughly $300 just to get something that we already read/watched and not to mention the hype of this series is over already..

Just my humble opinion tho, I didn't mean to bash this game, what I want to hear is if there are some nice bonus, upgrade, or addition that might makes me think this game worth it

Who the hell said it's going to cost 300 freaking dollars to get this game??? If it costs that much I doubt anyone would get it. If anything it'll cost 60 and I would probably get it.

Though I doubt those who've already played it like you said probably wouldn't waste their time either unless there are upgrades.

$30 is much cheaper than the PC version I think. Maybe some people who obtained the PC version by illegal means or decided to not obtain it altogether will buy the PS3 version.

More like $75 at the most current currency conversion rates.

I checked, $74.90. Even if I don't even have a PS3, I was excited to hear about it being only $30.

Apparently it'll be available as a PSN download. I haven't kept track of console releases of VNs. Is this normal?

*Wishes that VN's would be available on Steam*

Your most likely thinking about the PS2 version which is available for under $30 (heck even the PSP version is under the $70 mark)

As for your other question I don't really have a clue since I don't have a Japanese PSN account (which is the one thing I have to sort out since there's a few things on the Japanese store that I want to get).

If it's available as PSN download, it will be probably around 30 bucks. No games in PSN cost more than that as they are not considered as '' full games ''.

They must either old games that are available on disc or PSN only since I doubt anyone would charge less then half price for a new release game.
