So Yu obtains the Empress and Judgement arcana this episode, finally completing the entire set.~
And Namatame is proven not to be the actual culprit who killed the first two victims, he was just a fellow who completely misunderstood the TV world and figured it was a haven where he could protect the people who were appearing on the Midnight Channel, whilst in reality that world was what was actually responsible for killing them. And for those who are inevitably going to rage about Nanako's resuscitation, the main reason for her death in the original game was to throw the player off track. By just blindly hating Namatame for being responsible for the death of a character you got to like throughout the game and not thinking rationally, shoving him inside the TV cuts you off from the truth and you achieve the bad ending. What's interesting about that scene in the game too is that if you choose to pursue the truth, it's the only scene in the entire game where Yu actually yells at anybody. For a character that's normally emotionless it was a pretty interesting thing to see. Anyway the true culprit will be revealed next week, so for those who want to guess, a quick review of the facts: - The culprit had a connection to Mayumi Yamano and Saki Konishi (the first 2 victims) - The warning letters prove the culprit knows about the TV world and what Yu and co. did there - The culprit was aware of Namatame's actions and observed them from afar - There were no witnesses, both letters were delivered directly to the Dojima residence yet nobody said they saw anyone suspicious and also nobody saw anyone unusual around Yamano and Saki when they were still alive. Good luck anime-only viewers.~

Wow.
I haven't played the game. I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague. I have only the vaguest of guesses regarding who or what is behind the mystery. The one thing I feel remotely confident about is that Yuu entered another dream world there at the end. Unfortunately. It's going to be a long week waiting for the next episode while trying to avoid major spoilage. Edit: I guess I was wrong about the dream world after all.

I thought we actually were going for the bad ending there for a few minutes, I had seen a few screenshots and figured out that if you chucked the guy in the tv it was game over for everyone and got worried there for a few minutes. And, if it's not something that's going to be addressed later, what DID cause Nanako to revive? I kinda know from a spoiler or two but just wanted to double check since it seemed like her heart simply started up a day after she died and normally that's not how it works.

For those who played the game and know how long the events of 12/3-12/5 take in game, this should make it clear how events can be condensed down, although they skipped a bunch of stuff. The fastest the 12/3 event can be done in is ~25 minutes if I recall correctly. (You have to play it 3 times to get all 3 endings possible at that point.)
And why were they using the max rank music for completing the bowl... It's not explained explicitly, but the game gives you all you need to put together what happens. The anime unfortunately hasn't shown the necessary scenes. Last edited by bayoab; 2012-03-16 at 21:08. Reason: Checked timing |

Was hoping they really would throw Namatame in, but then they wouldn't learn the truth. Thank goodness Nanako is alive! So they're back t osquare one. Seems like finally finishing that bowl made Yu figure out who it is. What's wrong with Kuma though? Hope he cheers up and comes back.

Aika is an anime-only character, so that instantly rules out the possibility of her being the culprit as she was never in the original game.
I admit though, if she was, that would be a very decent guess. Keep trying though.~

There were nice emotional moments in the first part of this episode (and BROsuke too ), but the ending was kinda weak for me That part where Yu finally managed to finish that hellish pile of meat was awesome though.

Looks like you're getting there, but we'll have to wait the next episode to see who is the true culprit but Yuu seems to have figured out already when he was watching at the snow in the sky (must've been finishing the mystery meat bowl).
