Wait, what?? She never lost her respect for them.

Nothing about animals or anything... again: I just found the author's stupid similes hilarious, it doesn't really reflect on anything...

@Kuromitsu: I go by what each novel reader writes, and since each ones writes his/her understanding of the novel, I am bound to rumble about someones logical extension, rather than what was actually written In between, that's normal, it is impossible to differentiate personal opinion and expectation from raw facts... otherwise we wouldn't need to discuss as species Nonetheless, your take seems more in line with how Saki has been presented in the anime and the manga.

I just hope, most of you won't be banned until I get to (try to) read the novel

One question for those who have read the novel: without spoiling important plot events, can you tell me if we will eventually see what's beyond the barrier and if we will see some other human society besides the one the kids live in?

If you mean Hacchoujime(八丁標) by "the barrier", we have already seen it: when Saki went to Shoujouji to get her initiation and when the group went to a canoe trip.

Spoiler for if we will see some other human society:

I think I finally understand what you meant.... You were not joking when you said you saw in your mind Satoru was talking to Shun's.
The simile is more along the line of a veterinarian or a pet owner treating a little animal which can be easily hurt or die if you don't treat it carefully, not a little child playing with animals.

I was joking. I understand perfectly what the author meant, I just find it funny when a guy's penis, or whatever someone does to it, is described in terms of small, cute animals. It's probably just me but it conjures up funny imagery that the author most definitely didn't intend... (What can I say, I have a horrible sense of humor.)

Well, you know what I mean. I was wondering if we will see what really lies beyond the barrier, like a completely different environment or society. But I guess you've answered my question

Wow, just like that? I mean, it's two pages...

But eh, why not, maybe if I have some time after work in the next few days. (I really should be doing something else, though...)

Well, no need for me, then! (At least you don't have to "enjoy" my clunky English...)

Wowsers. Saki is certainly quite bold and descriptive for a 12 year old doing this...

That read like a freakin' Harlequin Romance Novel, lol.

Remember the story is apparently being narrated by future Saki so this is the writing of a woman and not a 12-year old girl. What has she been reading all these years?

Nice. (They should include it in the anime in its entirety.)

That wasn't that NSFW in comparison to for example Barbarella.
Spoiler:

BTW That last line shows the author is a boy. I wonder how many girls are thinking this way.
