Really getting good feelings about this one. I'm glad I went in cold.

I doubt the Terrible Secret of Space in this show will be anything too surprising, but I still look forward to some good reveals. I may try to keep out of this thread for the most part to avoid potential spoilers.

Either way, I enjoyed the opening sequence a lot. Very deliberately crafted and well directed.

A little part of me hopes that they are alive somewhere.

But...wouldn't you think that Saki would remember having an older brother or sister? Those parents don't look old enough to have waited 14 yrs to have Saki.

I wonder if they devolved into those creatures...

What a nice, interesting premise to a new series. This one looks like it has a lot of potential.

The way some of Saki's classmates reacted, it seems like there is a lot of memory manipulation going on, or at least memory erasure. Also, how are we sure that the parents are as "young" as they look? They could be 100 years old for all we know. Also, by saying that they do not want to lose any more children, it is possible that they were thinking they need to make more. There is so much we don't know right now, which is great in my book for a start of a series... it keeps me guessing and wanting to know more.

Looks good so far. Seems like they're living in a dystopia masquerading as an utopia. Lots of fishy stuff going on. Mysterious.

I dunno, for someone like me who knew absolutely nothing about this series until today, the first episode was just okay. The pacing seemed somewhat off to me, scenes seemed to jump from one to another a bit too much for my liking, and I don't feel like they were explaining things well enough, like they were trying to cram as much info as possible into the episode ( at some points it almost seemed like this wasn't the first episode and I had missed one). It did get rather interesting at the end though, could end up being a good watch, I just feel it should slow down a bit.

Just watched episode 2. The game thing was pretty cool and Shun is freaking awesome. It's pretty clear he's in a different level than his classmates. Also Saki's crush on him is obvious and I'm starting to see some jealousy from Satouru's part.

The last bit of the game was highly suspicious. I wonder if something happened to that guy afterwards.

I also wonder about the bakenezumi. What the hell are they?

Pretty good episode overall. It delivered a bit more world building and kept fueling the mystery. Let's hope it keeps it up.

For an episode where not much happened, this sure went by fast -- by the time the credits started, I still felt like there should've been five minutes left.

The story at the beginning was interesting -- seems like there's a common theme in what they're reading at school, namely that you should always be willing to kill yourself for the good of the village.

I do have one complaint, though. As good as the animation is, the numbers on the uniforms are really inconsistent, both in terms of shape, placement, and size.

Interesting second episode. What really caught my attention this episode is the final lines, which states that Maria is the cause of so many deaths in the future. I guess this is a foreshadowing of how she will end up going berserk someday. Then again, she must be really powerful for that to happen, and so far, I haven't seen her use her abilities in ways that make her any more powerful than the others.

Still, nothing much was answered this episode. We are still in the wondering stages. Those beings that were servants appear semi-humanoid. I wonder if they are a product of genetic manipulation or whatnot. Also, the emperor at the beginning was insane. It shows that they do not value life like we currently do.

Hopefully, we can get more answers next week to see where everything is headed.

Could be a plot point -- they might have been subconciously changing it with their Cantus.

Either way, children disappearing is mysterious. Plus, the cruel emperor is ... absolutely cruel. What the heck happened to technology...?

But we saw all the kids playing together before the "1000 years later-" message popped up. Sure, we didn't see their faces, but based on the shadows and voices, it was the main characters.

Are you suggesting that the children are clones? That Saki's previous dead siblings are defective clones? That could be a possibility.

In the end I'm not sure what is going on here. It's pretty damn weird and suspicious though. Certainly some memory manipulation is at work here. A friend going missing is pretty suspicious, but they'd also notice the other guy going missing simply because they really hate the guy. I'm not sure if their memories are getting wiped or just manipulated enough that they naturally forget about them. Does send a shiver down your spine thinking of how many kids might have been killed in just a few years at this rate.

The stories do send a dark message. You break the rules or simply ignore them, and you better be prepared to sacrifice yourself. Even in the story we heard this time it wasn't like this guy went berserk, but he went and killed himself. Seems even from a young age they are trying to create this belief of the village being bigger than their individual lives.

A pretty uncomfortable relationship building between Saki and her parents. She knows something is up and they are hiding things from her. So now the situation with her mother has become a "well if you are going to lie to me, I'll lie to you."

A lot of weird stuff going on and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Or reincarnations maybe.
Either way, episode 2 opened with "500 years later" so I'm guessing that as the episodes go on, we get closer to the actual time. (next episode will have 400 years later, 300 years later, 200 years later and so on) but I still have no idea from what event/time we are counting.

i wonder what they are going to do with the desirable ones.
