Incidentally, I only have volumes 3, 8 and 9 in my possession right now, volumes 4 and 5 were borrowed by a friend (who hasn't returned them in ages by the way *RAGE*). I'll post them if I get them back.

Ah....very good chapter this week. I'm beginning to like the colloid, it's starting to merge with the story very nicely. It's chapters like this that make me love this series so much, it actually leaves a lasting impression on me.

Nice! Crap.. and the rate I'm reading the series at (the rate that Dark Horse release their frickin' books) it will take some time to catch up the current day installments. BTW: My copy of issue 11 finally came in the mail, but I've been savoring it. Smelling it once in a while... Who knows, it may be another 6 months till another volume is released!

Thumbs down

Volume 18 came out in German recently, so I've finally been able to finish my collection. Right now I am extremely annoyed at the author...

Spoiler for volumes 16-18, including ending:

Yeah, volume 18 is the end. It's rather unfortunate, especially given how things turned out.

The last volume of Eden showed up recently. Was a somber end to one of my favorite Seinen series ever, it was a long ride but I enjoyed the whole thing, fantastic.

I just with it was more popular. I really recommend it to anyone who wants a good story that is strong on character development and something that really gives your mind a workout at times, makes you think.

agreed with most of your review, i guess mangas like this that has no moe, no heroes, no vampires are hard to gain popularity

it might receive more interest if made into an anime by a good production house, but again it is not popular enough to get animated...

Just re-read this manga again. Brings back the nostalgia of the good-old gen-X sincerely forward-looking internationalism and those times when drug lords and hoes were still cool.

It's one of the best, completed manga I've ever read. Considering its content, you'd have thought it would have been far more popular to a western audience than the post count in this thread would lead you to believe.

It did get lots of critical buzz during serialization, but that type of buzz can often maddeningly have no correlation to strength of sales.

Regardless, I dream of Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G adapting it into a 50 episode anime series.

It feels like years since they've been updated, btw.
Also, cake.

One has to forgive the 20th century futurist attitude depicted in the series since, after all, it's pretty much '90s/early 2000s thing. Also, depicting muslims not inside the trappings of taliban turban camels, instead drawing more influence from Black Muslims X imagery (and certainly not exclusively, which adds to the good) and not buying into inevitable caliphate meme grants this serial a major plus. Objectively, it's not the best out there, but I love how this manga reminds me of my own history in certain few ways.
