Hmm the style reminds of war on seminar. Lets hope it won't be just one big training montage

The GXP novels. The Empire that the Seto Squad members are from have a whole magic thing going on with them that seems to be tied to Photon. The novels also tied Dual into GXP as it seems that that wasn't Earth and the Idol from GXP is the same robot from Dual and D's Astral soul was still inside it. and Seina is a reincarnated Kazuki Yotsuga. Note the novels are quite a bit different than the series was an expand heavily on it the series is just the bare bones of the majot plot. One of the biggest differences is that NB a) housed an AI that fell in love with Seina and kept that fact hidden from him but not just about everyone else through most of the novels and pretty much all the pervert bit was caused by Tenchi's Grandmother as she would remote control it.

That end pretty much is setting up the IF storylines. Ryoko and Ayaka daughter's are inbound

I just watched the episode 2 and it jus left me mostly in question of who's who. characters I'm not familiar with shows up and shows that she's important if she talk with seto like that but I don't remember her at all.

more questions and more talks.

it's disappointing.

there is a fight with 1 stray small fry pirate but it ended up fast and turn into mail for gp.

episode 3 was release last august 28 and when I watched it, it just left with mooooooooooooore questions than answer. Well, the good thing in episode 3 is Tenchi is actually thinking of settle down/marriage of the girls.

I haven't watched it yet, but I will when I have time. Well, ok, I need to watch episode 2 first, and refresh my memory what episode 1 was all about. All I can remember was that the series has not been really good since the 90's series, especially focusing on characters most of us don't really care about. The story works best when it focuses on the main characters, which, to me, are Tenchi, Ayeka, Sasami, Ryoko, Ryo-Ohki, and Washu. When these characters get sidelined, like they have been, the series gets really weird and boring.

Skimming through episode 3, there seems to be a lot promise, where I see a lot of scenes with Tenchi, some Washu, and a bit of the other main characters. Hope it will be good, and the ending seems to have hope with that.

I'm actually a fan of the third OVA as well, but yeah the 4th OVA was essentially all prequel set up for Seikishi (which is weird considering how much later it was made compared to that), as well as an advertisement for the new canon GXP stuff.

OVA 5 seems to be following suit with more advertisement of the later GXP novel material as well as for Paradise War, even being about how that whole island set up starts in the first place.

That said, I will give OVA 5 two things so far:

One, it was nice actually seeing the Tenchi household advance 5 years and see Sasami grown up after all this time.

Two, the third episode did have quite a bit of original cast stuff going on alongside the Paradise War setup, and it is strongly implied that this series will see Tenchi decide on marrying the girls.

I know some of the doujins discussed that after the harem marriage they would retire to Jurai, but I wonder if he decided to go a different route. The 5th OVA makes a plot point of how they are creating a new house for Seina's family across the way from the Masaki house, and that their overall land will be considered a sovereign nation that cannot ally with anyone for fear of how much they would upset the power balance of the interstellar community when certain empires happen to be friends with them and such.

Episode 3 is more of a Paradise War epilogue as it clearly is taking place after it with Shou already in the know.
The doujins discussed that after the harem marriage they would retire to Jurai but it is implied that it is after many years that that happens likely when the family would need to start hiding their age, Which was a plot point in OVA 4 that it was getting hard for the whole village to hide how long their lifespans are. The IF doujins even shows he was still living on earth when the youngest of the known daughters where in high school.
