Still - nice art, Koyama-sensei.

That's easy, it's Asuka she clearly wasn't wanted in Rebuild.

Rei, because she's the only quality character in this pic.

Asuka and Rei!

Asuka is in the medical tank, and Rei's currently goo. Mari is wondering why these two people are here!

That was a pretty good cover but as much as I enjoy May'n I have to say that it wasn't quite as powerful as the original Utada Hikaru version. And no matter what you think of the movies you must at least admit that this song is pretty darn good (I think).

New trailer. And everything y'all disliked about the last trailer has been removed.

Couldn't that be said of them in half of the official illustrations anyway?

Pure genius. Anno has outdone himself.

...Or, you know, that new "footage" tells us absolutely nothing about what the actual movie is gonna be like.

But yeah, at least it is harmless instead of actively offensive. That much is an improvement.

I hate to think about what your opinion was when you saw the EoE trailer...

EDIT: 'Cuz I dunno about you, but when I saw this back in '97, I had absolutely NO idea WTF the movie was going to be like...

Wow, thanks for that, I'd never actually seen it.

And I liked it a lot actually. Rebuid's piano thingy was cute but not all that evocative to me, but this one was different. Sure it's similar in that it doesn't show actual concrete footage from the films (well, I'm assuming so for Rebuild's, but you never know, and one of the shots from the EoE trailer did make it into the film), but EoE's had a lot more to offer artistically IMO. Misato, Rei and Asuka's seiyuu going through daily life (while surrounded by Evangelion motifs) and talking about things like love and men with Yume no Sukima playing in the background? Pure win right there.

So yeah, very evocative and enchanting trailer, that one. Boy, I miss the old Anno.

No, it's a great trailer, I ain't denying that...but again, it confused the HELL out of me in '97. "Is this Eva...? It's all live-action...WTF?"

Likewise, the piano trailer has me just as confused. In a different way, of course, but I feel that same sense of "WTF does THIS have to do with ANYTHING?" that I felt way back when.

Which is kind of a cool feeling, honestly.

But here, this one's everything you'd EXPECT from an Eva movie:

Me, I'd rather expect the unexpected... Which is why I'm getting my tickets for November 17.

Did you really just post an Eva porno? As if I needed to be reminded of Goro's acting skills after seeing him in Fate/Zero's live action...

But anyway, to be fair to the Rebuild trailer, the EoE one wouldn't have been as impressive to me if I hadn't already watched the actual film and made all the connections to the trailer, so maybe if Rebuild does incorporate the piano thing into the film somehow, I might be more convinced of its relevance in a preview. Who knows, maybe it's Kaworu playing it telepathically. He did make his debut in the manga playing one.

No, it's just your imagination.

EDIT: And can I say at this point that AnimeSuki convinced me to check out "Eva Re:Take," and I thought it sucked? Episodes 17~26 were just a dream? Sucky. Everyone excited that Asuka's pregnant (at 14, again)? Totally implausible.

Why do people on this board like that better than the ACTUAL ending, again?

I certainly don't either. Re-Take was impressive for doujin standards, but it was still fairly limited. I liked the focus on Shinji and Asuka since they are far and away the most interesting characters in the series to me, but boy did the doujin go too far with it, ending up with everyone else acting almost comically out-of-character.

I did like the addition of the few moments after the last scene in EoE, though it might have made it a little more hopeful than I felt was intended (though maybe that was the point?). Although, even after all this years, I still can't make up my mind about the intended tone of that particular scene...

All I ever really said about RE-TAKE was that it seemed more in line with the tone of evangelion than 2.0 and that miraculously it was a better story despite being a doujin. It is by no means anything close to the quality of NGE as a story.
