It's just that this series does focus on different characters during points in the series, and each of them get the spotlight each time (Allen just gets it most of the time). I mean look at how much Kanda we got before the Edo arc - not much.

It's a shame. When it was weekly Hoshino was actually able to divide the focus between all of her characters without leaving any of them neglected and still producing great chapters. With the manga now being monthly, and with Hoshino engrossed in this arc to establish the setting and pace for the new D.Gray Man there doesn't seem to be much time for characters not relevant to Alma. I miss Lenalee, Miranda and Crory.

I think y'all are being over dramatic. The manga isn't ending yet as far as I know so when this arc is over the other characters will get some attention but for the time being this is Kanda's time to shine.

No has said it's ending yet. We're just saying how it's a shame that most of the main cast feels like they're being ignored. We're allowed to do that you know.

Casshern is pretty much spot on though that Hoshino is just setting the new pace now that the title is monthly.

Well, we do get to see Lenalee and Lavi in the chap. But, hey, I'm not complaining. Of this month's 3 JS series I read (R+V, Claymore and DGM), DGM's chapter beats the other two hands-down.

The art in chapter 196 was seriously weird (look at Allen's face on the last page for example), as if it had been drawn by another person (her assistant(s)?). Either way, I'm not liking that change, so I'm hoping it's just temporary. The art used to look a lot better than that...

I'll agree that some of the faces looked off, though the rest of the art for this chapter was spectacular in my opinion. Especially the backgrounds and body models.

Maybe I'm behind but I just found chapter 195 and I'm still really confused. Aside from the fact that almost all the new characters are exploding and exploding bodies are harder to tell apart anyway, the artwork overall looked wonky to me and I'm having a hard time making almost all of the characters out. And I have no idea where the plot is going, um, there's someone, he's unhappy, and since he's unhappy at Kanda he wants to kill everyone else and, uh, there may have been logic but it was hiding behind all the nightmare fuel bodies for me to find it. Think I'll have to start reading the manga in multiple chapter chunks, might help out a bit.

Really sounds like you need to read the last 10 chapters or so again.

looks like it. The millenium earl seems to be trying to make allen join their ranks, but, because he wants to be with the 14th's side? (hmm... suspicious... maybe most likely he wants keep a close eye on the 14th... or otherwise) However, seeing him along with the earl and earning the villain title might not be so bad after all, at the very least he'll have road with him and then maybe sooner or later someone (most likely lenalee or cross) will smack some sense into him.

if allen does join their rank, permanently, well i just wanted say that this will reminds me of desert punk where the main character goes from main protagonist in the beginning to main antagonist at the end which is pretty much a big WTF?!! to me when I found that out.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I like Alma as a villain though. I hope he remains that way until he's offed.

Surprisingly for someone who skipped most of the Kanda flashback I understand what's going on. I have no idea how this arc is going to end, which I like tbh. The unpredictability is what makes it fun.

i have to agree with andrewsch on everyones reaction to the earls words. especially tiki's. he was totally like "w00t?" xD

and yeah, fou! finally someone to knock allen out of his lameness. "i can't save him" ... now who was it who said, he loves both akuma and humans? fool. glad, fou managed to give him a lecture, though he would have deserved a beating too. guess, that's reserved for someone else later. *g*

now im curious what he can do and how's it gonna end, like everybody else, i guess. i like the unpredictability here too.

wow, i actually started to read DGM about a year ago, but dropped it after the first chapter for some reason. stupid decision, i'm glad i continued this time.

because now this manga is definitely going to end up in my top10. the plot, the characters, the mix of humor and seriousness and especially the seriousness itself. there always seems to hang a dark threat in the air, and though sometimes its getting a little suffocating without a "relief" chapter after a while, in my opinion thats what makes a manga so much better than some manga where you can't feel a threatening aura at all or only in some fights.

especially now with that "14th" and traitors in the own ranks business. though i still wonder if the 14th is really all that bad, or if he's just made looking worse thand he actually is to increase the tension? seriously, i wouldn't be surprised if cross shittalked them to deceive central all along. it would be SO like him. *ggg*

even so, the 14th is gonna be a nuisance, at least for a while, but maybe allen will be able to arrange with him? would find that more interesting than just, fighting over his body and then defeating him. but maybe im thinking waaaay to far ahead. =)

quick summary about the charas:

allen: i really like him as a mainchar, because he's a serious one, unlike in other manga, where the mainchar is a total fool. or at least someone who likes playing an idiot for most of the time. thats fine too, but i like having a more serious one around once in a while. not much else to say other than that.

rinali (or lenalee, god i HATE that nameswitching. its soooooooo annoying. -_-):

<3 love her. she's a heroine that can defend herself for once, without having to be rescued all the time! especially against that level 3 before edo. that fight really made me like her (and hoshino-sensei, for writing it). though after that he ended up in "damsel in distress" mode, but that was okay, because it would have been unreasonable after even allen got killed after fully releasing. she was really cute with short hair too. xD
then her determination when getting her powers back and her fighting ability afterwards. great! enjoyed the level4 arc. oh, yeah and her affection for everyone. like when she said, "if anyone of my friends dies it's like a part of my world is being destroyed" aww, poor girl. i wonder if it's just her character, or if her innocence being the "heart" is partly the reason for that?
oh, and especially her affection for allen. loved the chap, when she woke up in his room. i mean, wtf, girl, you're sleeping in his room already?
i'm definitely looking forward to their romance starting to develop. they've already started to blush in each others presence, hehe. though the whole jealousy (bak and...rou fa (?) ) and the 14th business is gonna be a pain soon enough, *sigh*. i'm thinking too far ahead here again, aren't i? >.>

kanda: the first thing i thought after seeing him for the first time was "lol, he's just like sasuke." i mean, THAT person and his personality and all. i don't mean it in a bad way though, just occured to me. he's not my type of character though, he's interesting and i wonder how this arc will turn out, and when he will pay allen back for that punch (which is definitely going to happen at some point, heh), but that's it.

komui: lol. one of the best characters in dgm for me. made me laugh more than everyone else together. xD
"rinali is gonna marry someone." i wonder how he'll react, when that wakeup-call is finally going to be true?
all his whackiness and obsession with his sister is just adorable. ^^
on the other hand, he also knows how to be serious. and he really cares for his comrades, which just raises my opinion of him even more.

oh. my. god. i love characters like him, who prefer to stay in the shadows and spin their threads from behind, while making an enctrance to turn the tables once in a while, always shining in epicness. he's definitely a force that is not to be underestimated, in fights as well as plot-wise. and he's funny as hell.
"i could forget everything you did to my comrades, i'm not THAT evil. ...but then you went and messed up my clothes"
i was disappointed when he shot himself, but when he "fell" through the window, it was like "lol. that guy is such a cunning bastard!" haah, really he is. looking forward to his next entrance, but that's going to be faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from now. *sigh*

ok, i wanted to write more, but i'm getting a little tired of writing about everyone. and i already listed my favourites anyway. well, most of them at least. so yeah, from now on i'm going to post here too. ^.^

Although this chapter quite slow actually, but none the less, AWESOME.xD
This chapter make me sad cause seeing Allen trying so hard to stop those two. The Kanda vs Allen is also sad, reminds me of Allen vs Lavi in Noah Ark Arc.
Apparently, Kanda really going berserk when he's in 5th Illusion + might going to die according to Zhu.:S
So Alma had a somehow positive(may be) reason to kill Kanda so as Kanda.
It's really shocking that Kanda STABBED ALLEN so real.T_T And the EARL is really HAPPY.

In the end, looks like Kanda regain control of himself while Alma still decide to finish things with Kanda.

Next chapter is gonna be real shocking IMO or so I hope.xD
