Your favorite Game genre thread.
I'll begin, my favorite genre is RPG. (I hope this thread hasn't been created. I did search 5 pages in tis forum and didn't notice any thread like this.)

RPG mainly because they tend to be story- and mechanic-driven. I.e: a story to drag you on and game-mechanics to keep it fun. FPS games can be fun too, but they seem to have become too standardized and boring in 90% of the cases. Result of investors demanding security for their money, I guess...

DM: "You have entered a big area, in the center you see a gazebo, what do you do?"
me: "mmmm...I shoot the gazebo with arrow." DM: "The gazebo doesn't look affected and completely ignored you." me: "I provoke the gazebo." DM: "The gazebo doesn't seem impressed with you." ...................... me: "I throw a rock at the gazebo." DM: "The rock bounce back at you." me: "I attack the gazebo." DM: "****!@$ It's just a gazebo!" xD |

My favorite game in RPG has to be Super Mario RPG. That will probably remain eternal for me. By the way, the question wasn't "What's your favorite thread", it was "What's your favorite game genre". Sadijah's example has lead me to the light. I suppose I should've clarified the purpose of this thread upon it's creation.

My favorite Genre is Rpg/Adventure. I enjoy a good mmo as well but I don't like that people are starting to incorperate mmo style into rpgs and feel there needs to be alot more classic style rpgs created.
I have never tryed a text based rpg but I think I will look into them. My favorite RPG and the best rpg ever made hands down, Chrono Trigger. |

Second favorite: Adventures.
Recently, I have been reviewing the DKC series for SNES at an old skool gamefest. I have to say, I gave Rare it's first "State of the Art" award from "Dolijah Dossetts graphics designers and storyline creators". It's a shame Rare and Nintendo are no longer allies... |

I grew up on side-scrolling platformers, so I'm biased for them. Mario, Sonic, Rockman, etc. There are also 3D platforming adventures that I love, but I have only recently began to like RPGs (besides the Mario ones, which I have played since years ago), and even I have yet to try many of those. However, I still find them awkward, since I'm somebody who likes to rush into things quickly and get them done, rather than wait for my turn to attack, but I can learn to get used to them.
