Don't think so. They'll just have to learn to live together. Shouldn't be too hard. Even Alto who was all "only room for one species in this galaxy" and "I hate the Vajra! Kill! Kill!" suddenly became their defender in the end. "You bitch! I can't believe you dared to use the cute little Vajra for your own ends!". If anyone, human or Vajra, makes trouble, I guess Sheryl and Ranka will sing him down.

Or, you know, just don't care. I agree the series's full of unanswered questions. But hey, warm fuzzy feelings and mecha pron. And schadenfreude from all the extreme shippers getting trolled.

Different words, same meaning.

But yes, Mecha ftw!

Something Odd I noticed.

Lunar has yet to come out with their fansub of Macross F - ep.25.

I wonder what's up.

There are a lot of songs for them to cover. They do seem to take longer when lots of karaoke happen onscreen. Wonder how long it will take for AONE to get here.

EDIT ADD: It's out. Get it here.

was it just me or was the AVI encode **** quality?

That aside I'm still trying to figure out if I watched the end of MF or 24 minutes of cheese piled high with a side of cheesy goodness manufactured in cheeseville. (-_-)*

It was released just this morning (at least this is what I think I put on my downloader before leaving for work )

The gg subs are rapidly available, but man, I grew tired of their BS commentaries and the sloppy dubs of simultaneous songs + dialogs overlapping. Ah well, beggars can't be chosers I guess.

Glad the Lunar sub is out though.

That´s only with VLC player. Use Media Player Classic, and all works well ( and the comments don´t show up there ). GG hates the VLC player. ^^

Does Lunar give the option of turning off the karaoke like GG?

That's odd, I've never had problems you've had with GG before...

It's just a codec snafu. When I watched some anime MKV's on VLC and GOM Player, I had some nonsense lines with some sort of fansubber commentaries and in-jokes and/or overlapping lines, sometimes.
Doesn't happen in players like Media Player Classic, using Haali's Media Splitter and ffdshow proper. And the fonts display properly.

Yeah video quality of the Lunar sub was not really good. Also there's a sudden screen distortion at around 11:03. Plus there was a sync problem in the scene with Ranka, the one where she's saying "KIRA," the audio doesn't match with the video.

But as someone has said earlier in this thread, beggars can't be choosers. So Thanks Lunar.

Yeah, finally had a chance to watch the ep with Lunar's encode. Thanks Lunar! (even though your rips aren't Sarotech abigs compatible, but that's just me splitting hairs).

I gave the ep a 9/10... but that's a very high 9 (like 9.9). I am tempted to put a ten, but some parts were rushed, like everyone believing in the Battle Frontier and Alto (just because he was still alive) vs. Leon. (Deserters vs the newly appointed President? Without actual actual proof -- other than the assassinated president's daughter showing up on screen. And what happened with Earth and Macross 11? Again, splitting hairs.)

Visually I was impressed. I mean, maybe watching it on my dinky computer screen made everything cramped, but I imagine if I plugged this into a 42" LCD I'll be creaming my underwear, pants, couch. And it was colorful to say the least

I was left with a very satisfied feeling at the end -- surprisingly coz I half expected to hate it. Reading the tons of posts here ranging from questions why the Vajra protected the humans (Ranka's & Sheryl's singing overpowered Grace's mind control, and the Vajra, 'feeling' the singers' emotions felt the urge to protect something important to the someone (Ranka) important to them). In essence, Ranka's singing gave the Vajra something they didn't have -- individual desire, overriding what the hive mind was telling them -- to Grace's smile at the end (She's done something... probably uploaded her consciousness into some far remote reaches of human space, because she's opened the folds all the way back to Earth, she probably could upload herself there in an instant) -- to the 'salute' (seeing it... I think he saluted both, I'm not going to talk about geographic / spatial relations / forced perspectives etc. It's just that if I were a director and I want to show only one person getting the salute, there are better ways. To create ambiguity of whom is receiving the salute, this is very good, but based on my personal opinion of how Macross F has unfolded so far & how Alto has been portrayed, I think that Alto's salute was meant for both girls.

On the Love Triangle... I get this feeling. The girls know Sheryl is ahead. The girls also love each other (like sisters) and will not hurt each other in trying to win Alto's affections. Alto however, has no clue who he likes more. It's evident. He feels strongly for Sheryl, sure... but he also has deep affection for Ranka, maybe not as romantic a nature as Sheryl... but it's still love. So he's conflicted. On one hand, he adores Ranka. On the other, he desires Sheryl. Chaste love vs adult love. Which one is real? Which one is deeper? At 17/18 I'm not sure Alto's mature enough to make a decision... hence why this Love Triangle (as much as I would love to give it to Sheryl, whom I love), is very much still alive. (Now, if we could get them into one woman... we'd get Kuran Kuran )

Overall, I am deeply satisfied with the story. Happy even. But ecstatic? Leave the show permanently on my HDD to rewatch again and again? Probably not. But in terms of wrapping up this season, this was great. I just hope that they give us as awesome and thrilling a story in the movie (and hopefully in a 2nd season they should consider making).

As for keeping the series, I'm all for it. But I'll probably wait for THORA's releases, so I can make up my mind (Too bad AONE's also taking their sweet time with this one).

And I just did that last night, 2nd best thing was to do a dual monitor set-up with main on LCD screen and the extended desktop's showing it on an LCD Projector. Pretty nice indeed.

Must have been nice. My screen is not that big, only a 22" LCD, but with my HT cranking up the sound, it was quite a memorable experience, as well.

Although I preferred GG's version, after having seen Lunar's. Their subs look much better, but the visual on GG's release was just... more impressive, in some way I can't really quite convey into words. And they had the absurdly funny Zentradi bits.

I attempted to use Media Player Classic before with all the modifications but couldn't get it to work correctly and gave up. Then I went to VLC and loved it for a while until .mkv with multiple coded subs started coming out and that screwed everything up. Then I went to KMplayer which is actually pretty good for most things except when you have extremely complicated codex .mkv and sometimes audio issues on .mp4.

So maybe I'll give the Media Classic Player a try again.

Big Favor: Please point me to a nice walk through site that can get me up to date on MCP and all the necessary codec and the such. Pretty please.

Cheers.

Steps to install and use CCCP:
1. Uninstall any other codec packs you have on your PC. You can use their Insurgent application to detect these other packs.
2. Reboot your PC.
3. Install CCCP (follow the instructions on their site when tweaking your settings)
4. Enjoy!

Thanks BetoJR and mechabao for your help! +rep for your time.

BTW I watched the Lunar sub of ep.25 and it was very well done. Excellent placement on song sub and dialog.

And ep.25 was again just as good as it was the previous 4 times I've watched it now. Mecha PORN! GARRRR!
