Persona 4

Taken from Neogaf translated from Famitsu magazine
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258195

Persona 4 (PS2) (Yeah, it's the PS2, you heard it )

- Trailer on DVD
- July 10th release
- 85% Complete
- Looks like Persona 3 but better
- 180+ Personas
- Hashino is directing, Soejima is art director and character designer, Meguro is composing

- Takes place in the countryside, a more nostalgic environment
- The theme is murder mystery/suspense, it's a mystery thriller with twists and turns
- Multiple endings
- 1.5x the size of P3
- 60-70 hours
- There is a weather forecast system, and whenever there is a fog, a murder occurs

17 minutes trailer :O. This one is epic

And some scans:

I'll definetly be picking this up when it comes out, the cutscenes look awesome but my only complaint is I wish they would have done something with the in-game graphics, but that's a small complait for over 60 hrs of gameplay.

It's for the PS2... A part of me wishes that Atlus chose a current gen console. Just think of the possibilities I mean. Then again, this way Atlus can reach a wider audience and even PS3-only gamers can still be able to play this game unless they own a 40GB.

I played the first Persona game way back, but I didn't get to play the subsequent sequels for some reason, even P3. But I have a feeling this one is going to get me back to series. I can't wait.

You should really give P3 (or better wait until NA release of FES) a try.

Nice to see that the director is trying to make specs cool ^^

Only complaint i have with P3, they didnt keep the japanese VO

but other than that, i m still buying this....
even if most of it is the same as P3, just wish they gives you all the goodies instead of re-releasing it again as another FES version

2008 officially became the best year EVAR!!!
FES US release plus P4 announcement=PURE OWNAGE!
Will be getting this.

I will say this, tho. The character designs just arent as eyecatching as P3's, but still pretty good, I guess. Other than that, it looks awesome. Weather map replacing Moon Calendar is pretty cool. The highlight of it all is FUTBOL!!! Cant wait to play some FUTBOL!!!
Seriously tho, the minigames seemed to have been beefed up quite a bit, like the fishing minigame.

Wow this game looks so awsome! Hey is it just me or does all the characters seem to be wearing glasses during the fight scenes? Are the glasses of some importance?

Still playing Persona 3, have yet to finish it, and it has been a pretty good game. Especially since I have a special edition with the original, japanese voices. When P4 comes out, I can only hope that there will be a special edition of it too. English dubbing really butchers the feeling.

Didn't particularly like of any of the characters either or the suicide theme, so if these are fixed it could be a very good game instead of "pretty good."

If you have a modded PS2, I suggest you search for the key work "Persona undub" on mininova .

So they didn't keep the revoker this time. I'm quite sad, really.
Music is still superb, and I'm glad that they still have the Tarot in the game (well...I only play P3, so I don't know Tarot is the tradition of Persona series or not ). Character designs are good. Battle system doesn't change much (or it is, but I can't tell, really ). And everyone wears glasses!!
Too bad that we have to wait for another year to get the US version.

Thank goodness - the system can still do it.
Looks good. Maybe I'll hold off on FES and save up for this instead.

Let's wait for 3-4 years for this one to make it way outside Japan. May sooner if we lucky enough.

In my opinion, Persona 3 was a success outside Japan. Not just gamers, even so-called professional game critics like it too. I hope Atlus will be brave enough to release it outside Japan someday.

Due to the success of P3, I'm kind of disappointed that they are re-using the same style again. For P4 i was expecting a game with a totally different style, art, and gameplay. U.U But anyway, I'm grateful that they are sticking to ps2 with this.

The thing that most got my attention are the "teen-themed" Personas...

And does MC's Persona look like a ninja or what.

Hanzo ftw.

Margaret instead of Elizabeth and a limo instead of an elevator. Hope she makes some kind of tiny cameo.

Liking the music already but not surprising when it's from the same composer as P3, Shoji Meguro. Still dark and mysterious which is what I like about the MegaTen series.

I wonder if these "bizarre serial murders" and "deformed corpses" are supposed to lead towards Trinity Soul that takes place 7 years later...?

Wait, P4 is 3 years afer P3?

I thought the games were going to have completely separate storylines.

Has Shoji Meguro done the music for nearly all of the Megami Tensei series? I know he did the music for both Digital Devil Saga games, and I think he did it for SMT: Nocturne, but I ripped that soundtrack into a lossless format and can't easily play them on Mac OS (sigh). The music for those games isn't quite as "versatile" as the music from Nobuo Uematsu but it contributed very heavily to creating the right kind of atmosphere for those games. SMT:Nocturne also had some of my favorite battle music

If they were related then it'd certainly help to make an excuse for using the same character designs and graphic style.

(I still haven't played Persona 3, but I really want to. My PS2 is back in New York and I have no television; I ripped my PS2 BIOS but PS2 emulators aren't far enough along yet that I could buy the game and play it on my computer yet...)
