Liked the scene when Kotomine critically wounded Iri, but it looked more like a calculated move by his part than a finishing move (stabbing the belly is not fatal if treated in time plus he didnt finish Maiya neither). By doing so he ensured that Saber would have to stop and help her or she would die by the bleeding allowing himsefl for a safe retreat
Of course no one didnt know about Excalibur scabbard inside her wich probably saved her life since I doubt she could have hold by herself until she received medical atention or healing magic Maiya seemed to have broken ribs or perhaps even a lung pierced since she coughed blood, unless we are seeing the "blood in the mouth" meme usual on many manga/anime/VN |

True enough that he expected this to be a great battle between mages who have trained for years for this moment. Too bad for him Emiya just wants to win and survive. That was a scary fight against Kirei. That guy is a true monster right there. Terrifying guy. Thank god that Kiritsugu was smart and gave Avalon to Irisviel. Or else there's no way she would have survived. Though she did fight well and that was impressive. Kind of amazing that even the battle against Caster had no conclusion. They did force him off, but he is still alive. Does look bad for Lanster's master staying in the fight. Luckily they have someone else who can handle that role. No matter what kind of healing magic they can get, it's not going to be easy to recover from that kind of damage.

Don't all members of the church have some small amount of divine protection? I think that was mentioned before.
Also, I get the origin bullet, but what does Mystic Code mean? Also, I think Emiya throwing away the gun, only to pick it back up later makes total sense...he knows he be fast enough to get it back, and he needed Kayneth to focus on the pistol he was gonna fire.

For example, Kayneth's Volumen Hydragyrum was his Mystic Code. |

Holy shit, that was brutal. A lot of blood. Kirei did not have to be that mean to Iri... that was horrible. My god and it came out of no where. Thank god Kiritsugu gave her the scabbard. Smart guy, for a multitude of reasons.
Kayneth got owned! I'm confused which bullet hit first... but I suppose I'll sort it out when I read the novel. Quote:

He has one shot he knows is going to penetrate his opponents defense and all he gets versus a standing still target was a shoulder wound ... I realize its all just a setup so he can use his other cool special bullet but would really make a lot more sense if he actually hit a critical on the stationary target instead of just using it to get a wound + bait. Guess he should spend more time practicing how to aim his firearms instead of just spraying + praying.

So he probably did aim for a critical region, but had the plan B of the origin bullet if it didn't kill Kayneth. |

In addition to what Xion Valkyrie mentioned, Kiritsugu stops being able to see where Kayneth is after he starts shooting with the Calico since the mercury shield is opaque. So it's understandable why he would've missed anything critical.
