Amnesia: A machine for pigs. Q2 2013

Here is the new installment from Frictional Games. I hope this one is as "exciting" as the Amnesia the dark descent, which proved to excite the bowels of many of its players in the process.

Frictional games along with CD Projekt, Arena net, Nintendo and valve are in my opinion, the last bastion of the soul of gaming. I truly hope that this upcoming tittle is a success.

Synopsis:
Quote:
The year is 1899. Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus has returned home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy. Wracked by fever, haunted by dreams of a dark machine, he recovers consciousness in his own bed, with no idea of how much time has passed since his last memory. As he struggles to his feet, somewhere beneath him, an engine splutters, coughs, roars into life...
From the developers:

Quote:
Some work is still left to be done. We are testing, tweaking, optimizing, porting, translating and all those things that are part of the process of creating and releasing a game. Currently we are looking at a release around Q2 2013.”

“Originally we thought it would be a short, experimental game set in the universe of Amnesia, but thechineseroom had a vision that was bigger than that. As their work progressed, the potential for a much greater project emerged. What we ended up with is no longer what we had first imagined, but a fully fledged Amnesia game.”

And by that, I'm sure you mean "crapped ourselves in fear".

Man, even those the gameplay part of the trailer was really short, I must say that Frictional Games still knows their sound design. That was pretty intense for... what? A 40 second clip? DAYUM.

Looking forward to this game, though. (Never thought I'd say that about a horror game.)

Interested also in the change of the lantern. Seems like they're combining Amnesia's lantern with Penumbra's flashlight. And from the looks of it, the new lantern does a better job of lighting an area than the Penumbra flashlight. In front of you, anyway. To the sides... >:3

Until it's released, I'll just continue giving myself sleepless night with Custom Stories.

I'm sure you'll find out in the game.

It actually reminds me of one of the Amnesia Custom Stories that was called "The Machine" but I have a feeling from the trailer that "Pigs" are somehow being made analogous to humans. In some evil-and-insane-maniacal-experiment kind of way.

Naturally, my first thoughts also involve Animal Farm. But with more evil monsters.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was very thematic. Darkness and insanity were the obvious themes, but it did have an undertone of scientific... well, evil, for lack of a better term. I have a feeling that the new game will be even more about some kind of evil experiments. Whether or not they will be similar to The Dark Descent is another question, entirely. We don't know enough about the new game's plot to really get a clear idea of what it's about.

I think, while the subtitel is strange, it somehow fits the setting...

From the medieval castle in Germany, we are now in steam punk Victorian London.
And from the squaking of the enemies... well... that's where the pig part comes from.

Anyway. I sure loved Amnesia, so I'm a little hyped.

This world is a machine. A machine for pigs. Fit only for the slaughtering of pigs.
