Drummers need more love, seriously! I love drums, if I were to play an instrument, I would pick drums first.

Ritsu is my favorite character. She's wacky and fun but not dumb, and very like-able. Plus, her imagination (the fake memory in ep.1, the Yui+imouto rolling on the bed thing) makes me laugh!

Well, she's not dumb really. She scored a pretty decent mark in her exam (eighty two was it?)

She's just... very excitable.
Possibly dumb in regards to ignorance of other peoples needs (like ripping up Mio's Literary club application and constantly trying to distract Mio and Yui in the cram session.)

Well Yui aced her exam and she's "very" dumb, and they both used the same studying process.

Shouldn't that say something?

Yui herself isn't dumb either.
Just easily distracted.

Depends how you define "dumb." I tend to associate it more with academical achievement.
Dumb people don't ace exams regardless of how much studying they do.

I dunno... I tend to make a very big distinction between stupidity and foolishness. Stupidity is the opposite of intelligence, while foolishness is the opposite of wisdom.

Yui and Ritsu are, to me, foolish. They do silly things, but they know how to do certain things quite well. Ritsu can 'read' Mio very well, and vice versa.

Dumb: putting your hand in a pot that says "poison" on it
Foolish: rolling around on a bed during a cram session

Again, you have to recognize that it's much easier for every to just say "stupid" or "dumb" and no one is going to say "Ah she is so foolish!" stupid and dumb are much more general words.

Definitely my favourite character since the moment she appeared on the screen. Even though I strangely like all the main characters (I expect that to change for some reason, cause this never really happens to me), Ritsu very slightly edges out the others. Plus I play the drums myself so that's just an added bonus.

Well, the fact that Yui aced her exam proves that she learns quickly and easily if she puts the effort into it (as seen in episode 4 when she could play that non-noob melody on the guitar). Ritsu, on the other hand... well, I don't really know, we didn't get a lot of character development from her yet... at least not as much as 2nd runner-up Tsundere Queen Mio. Though I'm sure that she did not study as much as Yui with the cram session and all that.

But, anyway, my point is that Ritsu reminds me A LOT of Konata. She's silly, acts stupid, bubbly/likable, and is pretty much the source of K-ON!

That. But if there is a character that reminds me of Ritsu is Kana Minami from Minami-ke. They share so many personality traits...

Her "entrance" in episode 3 reminds me of Tomo from Azumanga Daioh. Way over energectic and loud. However Ritsu isn't dumb, nor spend too much energy pissing people off like Tomo does.

Truth be told, I think most of us take Ritsu for granted. While Mio is actually the one doing most of the work, Ritsu's actions are well-registered. Nothing very unusual from her.

Just imagine Ritsu going around for awhile without her headband. Speaking of which, I think it would be fun if she varied the color of it a bit on occasion.

Ritsu's just far too overshadowed by Mio, but people tend to forget that if wasn't for loli Ritsu, then they wouldn't have their moe moe kyun Mio that they know and love so much today.

ritsu combined with yui is the life of the group XD even though she's the least to be liked character .. I'm beginning to like her bit by bit ^^
