A Driver's License-esque picture of the girl in question.

The girl's name.

Important relatives of note (in most cases, the answer is "none"). A girl with important relatives of note are likely to cause problems for you if she becomes a witch, dies, or goes missing for very long. One of the 100 girls, for example, will be a close relative of "Governor Ishihara". Should she die, become a witch, or go missing for too long, the entire city will go into immediate martial law, limiting your effectiveness quite severely. In extreme cases, you might even have the Japanese military after you. It is possible for you to be killed 100 times and get "Game Over".

Important friends of note (i.e. friends that are one of the other 99 girls). A girl with important friends of note are likely to try to get her friends to contract with you as well.

Does the girl have a specific wish that we're already aware of? If so, the wish in question is listed. Girls with unknown wishes are riskier to contract with (at least 2 will give you bad "Game Over" ends if you contract with them).

Magical Potential Grade: Ranging from A+ (Madoka-level) to D (below Sayaka). The higher the magical potential, the more powerful the magical girl/witch will be, and the more energy you'll get.


Six statistical breakdowns.

Intelligence (1 to 10) - Intelligence level impacts how likely the girl is to contract with you, and also how good she will be at improvising in combat and adapting to her new magical girl body. The ideal intelligence is 7 - Not smart enough to refuse your contract offer, but smart enough to be good in combat. Girls of Intelligence 8 or above may refuse you, and you may need to be trickier in order to win them over.

Morality (1 to 10) - Morality level impacts how much the girl cares about others, and her personal sense of justice. This will impact eagerness to fight witches and familiars, as well as her ability to work with other magical girls. The ideal Morality is 7 - Not moral enough to think "Big Picture" and hence make a potentially risky wish (for you), but moral enough to want to fight witches and familiars to protect others. Girls of similar morality levels are more able to work with one another than girls of very different morality levels (a difference of 3 or more).

Emotionality (1 to 10) - Emotionality level impacts how rapidly a girl can become a witch after becoming a magical girl. The higher the emotionality the better. As with morality, girls with similar emotionality level are more able to work with one another than girls of very different emotionality levels (a difference of 3 or more).

Courage (1 to 10) - Courage level impacts a girl's willingness to put her life on the line. A girl with a very low courage level (3 or less) will avoid witches out of fear, and will only fight familiars, unless she can work with more courageous magical girls in a team. A girl with a moderate courage level (4 to 7) are willing to fight witches on her own, but will not take major risks and will not fight other magical girls. A girl with high courage level (8 to 10) will be very bold in combat, hence increasing her chance of defeating powerful witches but also increasing her chance of dying. She will also be willing to fight other magical girls.

Work Ethic (1 to 10) - Work Ethic level impacts how many fights a girl is willing to get in per day, and how long she's willing to fight. A girl with very low work ethic (3 or less) will fight the bare minimum number of witches necessary for soul gem cleansing, and will not bother with familiars, unless a lack of courage overrides this. A girl with moderate work ethic (4 to 7) will fight a witch or familiar per day. A girl with high work ethic (8 to 10) will be on Batman-esque patrols each and every evening, willing to fight multiple witches/familiars per day.

Athleticism (1 to 10) - Athleticism level impacts how good in combat the girl is. Low athleticism (3 or less) means that she's pretty awkward and is likely to miss her shots (if using long-range weaponry) and is likely to take more blows than she delivers (if a closed quarters combatant). Moderate athleticism (4 to 7) means that she'll avoid most attacks, and hit most of hers. High athleticism (8 to 10) means that she will not lose to any witch except the most powerful ones, or to most other magical girls. Girls with low athleticism are more likely to die, of course, which is not good as you (as Kyubey) would prefer a Witch end to a Magical Girl death.

At the beginning of the game, there will already be 100 planted witches in the city, for any new magical girls to fight in the early going. Each such witch will give birth to one familiar per day.

Should the witches/familiars ever be wiped out, magical girls will inevitably turn into witches from gradual soul gem corruption.

When approaching a girl (or girls) you will converse with them through a Visual Novel-esque screen and interface.

You will need to check in with each girl you contract with at least once per day. You have the option of watching up to 5 magical girl battles per day, but you can't interfer in them. Should you not watch them, the game will inform you of the outcomes of all such battles at the end of the day/turn (i.e. Kyōko Sakura and Sayaka Miki engaged in a brawl, hospitalizing Sayaka. Mami Tomoe killed by witch Charlotte. Akemi Homura successfully killed witch Charlotte and used grief seed.)

For each girl you contract with, you'll get a special magical girl card of her, displaying her in an action-y pose. This will go into your file that you can access to look at. Each girl will have her own unique outfit, her own style of combat, and her own specific weapon. Some girls will also have unique powers.


Once you achieve the necessary energy quota, the game ends and you get a victory scene, and a score (based on how many days are left, and how many girls left - the higher the better).

There will be a "Best End" available should you manage to get all your necessary energy quota from magical girls alone, with no witches resulting. This can only be achieved in one very specific way though, and will require contracting with the right girl with an unknown wish *after* you need just one more girl to contract with you to get your energy quota.


Overall, the game will be like a cross between a Visual Novel, Pokemon, and a world-builder like Civilization.


I'd love to see SHAFT license a game like this out to a prominent video game company, to be playable on the PS3 or XBox 360 or any gaming console really.

So what do people think of my video game idea here? Would you like to play it?

this appears to be fun i would suggest a different meter for sanity/depression level of magical girls in winding down time or scale from 0 to 10 too, 0 being time of witch maturity.

kyubey could have a menu to plot/strategize/orchestrate "accidents"/lies/arson/murder (friends or relatives)/kidnapping (probably through his agents) to hasten magical girls to contract or attack the girl's psyche.

i would definitely look into a game as detailed as this. but who knows, a fan might be making a doujin in the process. i prefer to see a web version in flash or java though so it could be free or maybe a homebrew game!

Ironically, the best fanmade Madoka game out there has to make you play as...
Got 60k or something on the first try. Spent the time goofing around, but Walpurgisnacht doesn't seem too hard to beat. Let's recap: half a dozen Puella Magi, levels varying from 2 to 8... Report ready, anyone here knows Homura's e-mail?

Good idea! It would be helpful for you, as Kyubey, to know when a magical girl has just about had it.

I would so play that game. It's disturbing that we all are playing as Kyubey in the game everyone playing now (87k right now), and in the game Triple_R proposed. Then again, I guess our life would suck if we were in the role of a magical girl.

Games were you play as a superhero are very nice, but also quite common.

Even in most RPGs, you're essentially playing as a superhero, just not ones in capes and tights (usually).


A game where you take on the role of a character like Kyubey would be unique, and is unique in the case of this Kyubey flash game that we're already playing. Kyubey himself is an original character (I can't think of any character quite like him), and so a game based on him and his role would truly stand out as different.

The easiest way to hoard points is to send some of your Puella Magi to die, let them become a witch, and then kill the resulting witch, resulting in massive level up for everyone. A large bonus is awarded at the end of the game if Walpurgi's Night is killed at a higher level. I believe Walpurgi's Night is always 3 levels higher than your highest levelled Magi, but I have yet to confirm.

I had the best time dragging a normal girl around in circles because a witch shot a wheel thing and I was trying to stall time and let her become a magical girl before letting her go.
