The actual episode itself was not bad (but not exactly phenomenal, either). The one thing I found weird was the connection between Aria/Riko and Sherlock Holmes/Arsene Lupin, given that Holmes & Co. are fictional characters. Kind of weirded me out of my suspension of disbelief, which is definitely not a good thing.

like its been said, the episode felt rushed.
i would have to say i prefer the manga's/light novel's telling of the story.
but that's how it usually is :P

i missed hearing Kinji's thoughts all the time tho. lol

And dear freaking god the subs were atrocious it made me wanted to rip my eyeballs out and start head-desking repeatedly.

well JC staff rarely do monologue even though Kinji's inner thoughts are awesome lolz.

And they cut up the part where Kinji studied how to pilot a plane in minutes.

Well they do explain it eventually in the LN, but whether or not they will in this adaptation is hard to say.

Judging from how many episodes far we're in right now and when the info on Riko's hair is divulged in the LN, if they do it probably won't be until one of the last episodes like 12 or 13. But this is mostly just a guess.

Premise: So so.
Execution: Terribly uninspired

Speed first, then Equilibrium. I'll keep watching if only to see which of our mediocre action movies they draw inspiration from next. Though I'll say Urobuchi's take on gun kata in Jouka No Monshou wasn't half bad.

An okay episode. Really not a fan of Aria though so the series will probably not be kept when I'm done watching it. Basically just here to see HM Kinji kick ass.

I'm a bit surprised that this could bother someone. Both Holmes and Aria are fictional characters so what's the problem of two fictional characters being related? Don't think it's that hard to imagine that being a universe where Sherlock Holmes was a real person.

I mean we have a girl using her hair to wave around knives and use a control that's flying a plane

Ehh, at best, this episode is a decent closure of the Butei Killer Arc. The battle between HM Kinji and Riko is awesome, and the landing scene is okay as well. However, I have to agree that there are very noticeable flaws, including WHERE THE HECK DID ARIA'S GUNSHOT WOUND GO? It suddenly disappeared, when it should not.

I still think that this series is gonna meet the same fate as Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi.

That's one good way to make an escape. Of course she really had no choice since going up against Kinji's Hysteria Mode is a bad idea for anyone. Still what Riko said in this episode was interesting. Starting to seem like Kinji's brother isn't dead after all. They had to assume he was dead since he probably went down with the ship. If he went traitor and joined the EU with Riko he really could be her boyfriend. Would really mess things up for Kinji since his brother's 'death' was the key to him quitting being a butei. Of course it was more about how the public reacted to his death than probably the death itself. Great teamwork though with Aria and Kinji. Stopping the bullet with a knife really was HM epic . Managed to match up better against Riko and really just put her on the defensive. Glad Kinji decided to go for the partnership. He's got reasons to keep going (like finding out the truth about his brother and Riko). Plus he really can't walk away from Aria after all this. Shirayuki just had to fall into the cliche with busting in there. Not being in any official relationship with Kinji (besides the ones she created in her head), but busting in there jealous and somewhat obsessed. __________________ Anime-Evo

I won't get into the physics of this episode because that alone is rapidly approaching IS levels of inanity. What strikes me most is that Riko is totally unconvincing as a villain. The sense of causality is off balance given the disparity between her grievances and what they drive her to do. Premise: So so. Execution: Terribly uninspired Speed first, then Equilibrium.
