The art for this show is really nice... it reminds me of Hundred Stories' art... though a bit better.... the backgrounds look like paintings, which creates a nice effect... and I really liked the fight sequences and cool camera shots... the first two episodes were solid...

Oh yes, it reminds me of Juuni Kooki (Chronicle of the 12 countries) quite similar artform. I hope is a long story, I love long stories

It appears to be scheduled for 26 eps, according to http://www.production-ig.co.jp/anime...shi/index.html Production I.G.'s page on it. THey've got the names for the first 13, synopsis for the first 7, and pictures added for the first 4.

This girl, dressed as a boy is way prettier than Mulan as a girl.

Episode 3 was another solid one... though I wasn't feeling the still shots for some of the fight sequences... I felt that the show had stellar animations in the past two episodes... having still shots in place of well animated fight sequences was kinda lame... anyways...

I think Hikari is supposed to feel some sort of <3 for Mansairaku later. Or something like that.... I've never read the "original" or whatever, I think it was on anime-source's website...

From the link above:

The major threats with which he was confronted were not only the rivalling Minamoto but also the increasingly militant Buddhist monasteries which frequently led wars between each other and disturbed public order.
Sounds like those monasteries were founded by Genjo Sanzo's followers? And was the PMK's Saitou Hadjime a member of that particular order as well

I think Minamoto Raik and Saitou Hajime are a good 900 years apart... I doubt there's any connection between Genjo Sanzo and Saitou Hajime...

Heh, finally watched ep 4 myself... I agree, the Mansairaku scene was very very nice. His words were very true and very fitting...

I'm also equally surprised at how capable Mansairaku is. Oh, and from the very first ep I thought he was pretty good-looking

However, I don't get this part,

I'm quite disappointed about episode 5 though... aside from some cool scenes of Mansairaku, the plot is mediocre and uninteresting IMO... somewhat childish too...

Hmm ... I'm not sure what you mean by the plot being childish ... but then again, I've only watched the raw. I should watch the chinese sub some time soon, but it's not like I'll understand that much more anyway.

And the first thing that comes to mind after watching episode 6 is ... I want episode 7!.

Oh, and the other thing ...

dreamless, you do recognize a joke when you see one? I meant the recent anime versions of Genjo Sanzo and Saito.

Given the parallels, is the episode 5 name the same as in the famous short story "Rashoumon" ?
