Past winners from Anime Saimoe Torunaments

Yo guys, i was checking the Anime Saimoe Tournament 2007 thread, and it is getting interesting, so i looked in old threads about the 2006 and 2005 contest to know the winners so far i found 2 threads about 2006 one but in both it didnt mention the winner or at least the top 10 girls, so if anyone knows a web or knows the top 10 or the winners from past torunaments <.< im very curious, anyways if anyone happens to know the top 10 of 2006 and 2005 it would be helpful.

Here is the Japanese Wiki:
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9C%...83%B3%E3%83%88

Links to past tournament brackets are included in the article.

And here is a 2006 Final Eight promo MAD movie, which included champions from 2002-2005:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FjnIyJWkas

Then I started up the English archive here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moe_%28...moe_Tournament

I cannot read the Japanese; therefore could use a hand with this one.

2004

First - Osaka - Azumanga Daioh
Second - Maggie Mui - Read or Die

Round of Six -
Rakka - Haibane Renmei
Ciel - Shingetsutan Tsukihime
Mizukoshi Mako - Da Capo
Rosetta Passel - Kaleido Star

Does anyone know why there were two Saimoe tournaments in 2004? The other 2004 tournament won't display for me so I can't read those results.

I believe the past top 8 has been discussed already in a previous thread, but man, I'm not searching 100+ threads for it lol. :P

If I remember correctly, one of the winners was Harada Riku from DNAngel, which I only remember because I wholeheartedly agreed with that. Riku ranks at the near top of my moe list, thats for sure.

mainstream? no
acg? maybe
what really boosted it's popularity from just a small popularity contest to a anime festival is probably last two year's contest (especially last year with SOS dan joining)

there was a huge jump in votes cast form 2004 to 2005.

anyone know the reasoning behind it?

Increased fandom to the tournament should be the most logical reasoning. We should expect this 2007 edition to have more than last year.

Besides, I didn't know about the Saimoe tournament until 2005, when someone began mentioning it on Animesuki's Negima manga thread.

I'm guessing it's because of the joining of the RM doll army and nanoha's magical girl army.

Hmm I think it could be 4chaner's who could read Japanese (I'm an example). They go on 2chan and then see the tournament Saimoe. Then from there they tell people about it and then people will place it within forums. Then from the forums the popularity increases. That is my theory and I was told about Saimoe from an old school friend who is also on AnimeSuki.

WOW! Just got here through a link to see past results and THIS Shocked me! Figure 17 reminds one of my top favorite animes of all time. To see that Tsubasa made it to the top 4 really surprised me! Way to go Tsubasa! even though it is 5 years late

Figure 17 was an unorthodox production in its lengh and timing. I was dying in-between the wait for the episodes.

Interest in tournaments died out on 2ch during 2003-2004 due to server loads and the sheer number there were running after 2002 Saimoe. It culminated with the 'which tournament is the greatest' tournament..

Most of Yotsuba didn't care about SaiMoe up until the finals of last year, I know I just ignored the topics. That happens sometimes - even regulars miss memes like "Homo Thread" or would-be memes like "Darks" by simply filtering certain threads and posts. I don't think Yotsuba really cared about SaiMoe until "Eri v. Mion", which was what got me into the tourney as well.

If anything got SaiMoe into Yotsuba's spot-light, it was SaiGar. Hard to ignore something that flooded the board for nearly three months.
