This film trumps out the rest, capable of moving most of its audience to tears.

Not to me, Grave of the Fireflies is like War/Drama genre, it's too japanese, not animese enough, Rainbow is also kinda like that too, I read the manga translated in french up to volume 12 or 13 and it was really boring. These type of cartoons aren't sad to me.

I find a manga that is extremely sad and has tragic content : it's called My Heart is Beating.... I haven't read myself but I heard many good things about it : it has 30 chapters (I think) and it's completed, but the story itself is very touching that it will make you cry a lot.

Besides not being an anime (or even japanese) I disagree with this manhwa choice. I hardly find it sad due to it's odd and short chapter structure (most likely because it was a webcomic) and it's more a sports manhwa about waterpolo (i would say roughly 80% is about waterpolo) rather than a sad romance.
Spoiler for spoiler:

So in short the drama part is not even close being similar to all the animes that the topic starter has mentioned.
You really should proof check your recommendations before recommending to others.

Any of these titles blow Grave of the Fireflies, Rainbow or any other post-war drama movies out of the water.

Sad animes > post-war dramas.

Yeah, the sad moments seriously appear in the second half (the show itself has 24 episodes).

Is it as good as Kanon? Because I noticed that the premise was very similar to Kanon.

Because its premise is similar, then Shuffle! will probably be as good as Kanon, but you need to watch yourself.

Despite you suggest these titles to Lawfer, the problem is that he doesn't like post-war dramas (no matter which time it sets).

Since when those titles are "post-war drama" ? Or maybe I can't get what kind of anime you call like that.

It's probably written on a certain Lawfer's post.

Well to be honest, he did like Saikano though and you can say that it's also somewhat similar to a postwar anime. However romance was probably the more central theme of that anime, rather than war.

Because he enjoyed Saikano, he might like Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu.

I don't think so. Although, has Makoto Shinkai's stuff already been marked as "post war drama"? Just wondering. Sorry if you feeling like my suggestions are offensive, lol.
