Higurashi manga thread

I got my manga a few weeks ago and WOW. It is soooo much better than the anime. Especially that end scene in Watanagashi *shivers*. Tatarigoroshi was also much better, especially with the Satoko Freak-out scene and the Interview. And the fact that Keiichi wasn't an idiot, flailing around an axe at crows.

Also, does anyone know if Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi are going to be manga as well? I assume so, but I'm not sure.

Yes, but since Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi answers everything, it is not being serialized alongside with Meakashi and Tsumihoroboshi right now. Instead, they have a new story called Yoigoshi-hen, which is about Hinamizawa in the present day.

Onisarashi-hen is also a great side-story, so I highly suggest you get that one as well.

The way it ended was sad though, especially for people (like me) who wished Natsumi was only an innocent victim of the whole thing (well, in a way, she was, but you know what I mean).

Chapter 4 of Yoigoshi-hen is out.

So we now know that Yoigoshi follows the end of Tsumihoroboshi - or rather, the BAD END of Tsumihoroboshi. It doesn't take much then to figure out who "Mion" is - for once, us readers have far greater knowledge and perception of mysteries than characters in the manga itself

How involved was Shion with events in Tsumihoroboshi? Off the top of my head she only appeared when she met up with Kasai and bumped into Rena at the bar. It was Mion that was with Akane when they had that meeting with Ooishi, right?

It's nice to see that Shion has inherited the katana-wielding skills of her mother. Wonder if Kasai will show up with his shotgun?

Do you guys subscribe this magazine? How is the story going so far? I gave a look at the Higurashi article at wikipedia and there's not much there about this one...

So, so far, the only chapters out currently are the 4 chapters of Watanagashi and Tatarigoroshi? Are those chapters going to be completely translated? Are there any other chapters that are going to be translated in the future?

-Watanagashi-hen : Chapters 1-4
-Tatarigoroshi-hen : Chapters 1-5


as for the rest, unless there is any dropping announcement, we can assume that these 3 chapters will be translated in the future.
also, we don't have any information if any of the current scanlation group, or any other would translated the rest.

We've been working on primarily Type-Moon stuff in the past, but I'd love to branch off into some Higurashi stuff.

Can anyone tell me a general summary of what happens in Onisarashi-hen?
I have the japanese copy of the manga, but I can't read it (of course).

From the pictures, it seems like her family goes insane and starts killing each other.
Can't really tell what happens in volume two.

It leads you to think that the family (the mother) was the one who went insane...when the final plot twist shows that it was in fact, Natsumi herself that went insane.
