The article put it perfectly from what I got from google translate (this isn't the whole thing, but only one part of it).

Railgun Filler is ... well we know...

And Index filler is Endymion Which one is better?

Did producer actually say that? If true, that's epic.

Didn't actually mention railgun, but he did point out that in contrast to the railgun anime original stuff, this was the first Index anime original stuff and this is what it means to have Index anime original stuff. So yeah the implication existed

Anyway, Endymion is pretty amazing Index filler if you think about it! Makes me excited if they have future Index filler (like a second movie).

I agree. If there's a another movie after 2 seasons, please do hint at NT stuff or future content like in Endymion.

That's quite sad if true, the director only brought the theme: "song and festival" and Kamachi written a 2 cour worth of material.
And I believe Kamachi even mentioned, he had already lots of ideas with the space elevator he wanted to use.

Plus this is movie, it can't be compared to anime. The number of people, the amount of time, quality.. are on a different level.

Still it was far better handled than the current filler arc from Railgun.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the Index 'filler' is actually Endymion + Assembly?

Just pointing out, that comparison between anime original arc that was not yet confirmed to be written by Kamachi (except the names) with a 6 LNs worth of material is a bit unfair.

Ensemble... But Ensemble ranked very poorly in term of sales, no?
I mean it was quickly forgotten afterwards and never mentioned again.

It would be stupid for them to group together a big failure with a big success

Depends on how much they profited.

You can have a small number of sales yet make a profit from it.

Assembly was essentially a VN, certainly doesn't require much production value.

I don't think he was really drawing a comparison. What Nakayama mentioned was that they wanted to present a story that took full advantage of the anime movie format - basically, they wanted the plot to include sights and sounds (i.e. songs) that wouldn't be conveyed too well in a manga or light novel.

Nakayama also noted that, at the time, they had already presented an original story in the Railgun anime. Consequently, there was a desire to create one for Index.

As for 2 cours of material, some people are taking this too literally.

I'm going by machine translation here, but it's mostly a promotional interview for the video release. One point they highlight is their commitment to presenting a faithful Kamachi work (they stress the tenacity of Hiroshi Nishikiori, the close involvement of the author when developing the script, the involvement of the same staff from the TV series, etc. Nakayama states that the movie shines through with the atmosphere and quirks that define Kamachi).

It really just seemed like Nishikiori saying, "he wrote a lot of ideas." and just drew that comparison.

But thanks a lot, TJR. Appreciate it! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Actually that brings up something that I wanted to know: WHY did Ensemble sell so poorly?

Its completely baffling when compared to the big success of the movie. Was it poor advertisement? Negative campaigning? The movie taking all of the spotlight and actually hindering sales? Or was the Road to Endymion LN which covered part of Ensemble the one that gave the killing blow?

From the spoilers that were posted in the Ensemble thread and the glimpse from the Road to Endymion LN, it seemed just like any novel that Kamachi would write except in VN form. It's so confusing

$80!? How the hell does that work out!? Are most PSP VNs the same price? And does a VN qualify as a game?

Either way, that answers my question.... Now it almost seems ridiculously obvious...

It's a collector's item to begin with, similiar to the $100 price tag on their BD volumes.

EDIT:

Sorry, $80 in my country's currency.

US$60, for the regular version.

US$100 for the limited edition.
