My favorite mothers:

Hazuki-Full Moon Wo Sagashite. She passes away before really getting the chance to be a mother to Mitsuki-chan but she seems like such a sweet person.

Queen Serenity-Sailormoon. Obviously very loving and a very generous and noble mother.

Yuji's mother-Shakugan No Shana. She's just very likable.

Meimi's mother-Kaitou Saint Tail. Mischievous and fun-loving as her own daughter.

Kurata Misako-Kodomo No Omocha. Even though she's not Sana's biological mother, she is an amazing mother who sure as hell knows how to raise a child. She seems eccentric but has a reason for everything she does and her bond with Sana is deep and touching.

Washuu-Tenchi Muyo. Perfect mother judging from episode 8 of the OVA series. It is so sad her own baby was taken away from her because of a thing as petty as social ranking.

Kokonoe Aki-Kodomo No Jikan. .............*cries* What a wonderful person..........SHE DIDN'T DESERVE CANCER!!! IT'S SO UNFAIR!! ;______;

Sakae from Summer Wars is awesome as the family matriarch. Strange how thinking of a character as a grandmother makes it easy to forget she's a mother too...

Madoka's Mom from Madoka Magica. Not because she's a MILF (although she still is), but because based on episode 6 alone, she shows that she's really a good Mom. She managed to talk with her daughter and listen to her problems, and uses her maturity to give her advice in life in a non-condescending, even fun and cool way. Not to mention this happen while she's the one bringing money to the family, so she managed to show her love for her family even when she's busy. Best mom in anime I've seen in a long while.

Misako Kurata from Kodocha

Really an amazing character. Very wise, knows how to make tough decisions, stand her ground, when to back off, is very caring, supportive, a great role model, and just an all around good character. She's also a hilarious eccentric. She has easily been my favorite anime mom ever since I first saw Kodocha... 10 years ago.

Weda from Hare+Guu, also.

Why? She's a alcoholic bum who's way too immature for her responsibilities (and only has sad responsiblities because of being completely amoral), is a terrible parent... but she's smoking hot and is quite good at her job in her rare moments of sobriety.

Ok. That one was a joke.
