What did you think of the manga?

I thought it was quite distinct from other versions - with Nayuki playing a much bigger role in the story. I must confess that it was this version of Nayuki that I fell in love with... she's the person to makes connections with all the girls, while Yuuichi is the one to step in when necessary.

While different from other versions, it does make more sense for Nayuki to be the one to connect with the other girls, and play the "Akari" role (from To Heart).

The manga was interesting.. very interesting in the fact of what was changed, & made the story fun to see in different aspects.

I think i'll probably re-read it this weekend.

There's also a new Kanon manga that started in the shounen manga magazine Dragon AGE.

The manga started recently in Dragon AGE magazine, so no volumes are out yet.

Here's the title of the new Kanon manga:

ホントの想いは笑顔の向こう側に Kanon ~each regret of Kanon~
Honto no Omoi ha Egao no Mukou Gawa ni Kanon ~each regret of Kanon~

原作:Key
作画:霜月絹鯊

Look here for a few images from the new Kanon manga:

Wow. We're getting alot of POV on how to take Kanon with all of these manga and the anime variations. The Kanon manga that I recall isn't very old at all, yet here's another take rolling out.

Ooo a new manga, gotta admit - i'm really loving the art for this one. I think i'll leave my re-reading of the original manga until i at least get to check out the new one.. that way i won't be comparing as much. :3

Nayuki seems to be looking more mature in the new manga, which is good.

I must confess I have a soft spot for the manga adaptation... here are some of the reasons why it's my favorite Kanon adaptation to date.

Yuuichi - I found him to be a much more endearing character in this version. Though he's a bit immature and often does things without thinking, he is always remorseful and learns from his mistakes. And in general, he treats the girls well.

Nayuki - She simply rocks. Friendly, active, and cheerful; she is often the catalyst to solving the girls' problems. Far from being a pushover, she is Yuuichi's equal and does a good job in keeping him in line. She is finally granted the leading role that should've been hers all along.

Logical plot changes.

Several scenes come to mind - for example, it is Nayuki, not Yuuichi, who takes the initiative in the Shiori arc, which makes a lot more sense. Akiko plays a bigger role in Makoto's arc. And in general, there was a lot more teamwork involved in solving the girls' problems. Liked the ending as well - it was good to see Yuuichi move on with his life after finding about Ayu's state, and Ayu's unexpected improvement was sweet as well.

Humor.

I thought the funny bits in the manga were handled well... "Miso Soup bath?" Comes complete with tofu and seeweed. Akiko's jam? Very nice off-screen joke - his garbled response pretty much speaks for itself. Nice use of art to convey different moods.

I read the first chapter and although it was different from the anime version, but I liked it alot. The artwork was nice and the comedy level greatly improved than the anime, and the overall enjoyment is better.
From the things I liked was Nayuki's reaction after Yuuichi calling her "Jirou" it was so funny.

A must see for any Kanon fans

Whoo! The perfect fix for those of us still suffering from Kanon withdrawal!!!

If there's anyone out there who'll scanlate them, that is.....

I'm hoping the second manga adaptation gets scanslated...

Perhaps not 100% "canon", but the character designs looks nice. And it will be interesting to see the Nayuki route for once.
