... Now watching... hmm, looks like the episode has quite the interesting plot treatment that branches itself apart from the manga.

We see more comedy being done this episode; even with the overall sentimental backstory for Makie (Professor Osakabe is a bed-ridden guy who needs audio aids to speak here) on the second part, the first part actually made the story a nice walk... ... and then we have a shell round bouncing off Takao's head, how unfortunate for her easily the first and the funniest episode up till now... as well as an episode we learn more of what makes it branch away from the source material.

And for the ending card... we have, why, it's none other than both Kongous from this series and Kancolle... drawn by Konishi of course. Oh, not to forget a new ED. I didn't really see the ED sequence in full to see whether it's a new sequence or not however.

Right, time for me to retire for the night...

Watching the episode was really sad it left me a mild impact on me. I did care for Haruna and the way her characterization is executed give me enough emotion. What hits me more is Makie's past, that was very terrifying and I can't help but felt moved. It was predictable in a way the direction unfolds but it's the backstory that was strong. If there's anything to say more, I'm starting to expect Makie to not be affected so it could be kept as a secret to her father, Haruna and Kirishima. The ending theme this episode is the same as others in visuals, but it was a different song that was likely made to revolve around Haruna and Kirishima. The eyecatch at the end also had Kongo from Kantai Collection, it's like they're trying to make two series with same themes coincide with each other.
I didn't expect to like the series even more and if the animation at the beginning wasn't something I could get used enough, that's a drastic change for me, hope it kepts good that way.

Some releases and some groups will cut it off, though. It depends on who you're getting your anime from, and where they're getting their raws from.

It's not inconceivable that a modern country/government deprived of resources might become harsher. Lots of examples of that happening.

Then you add in the fact that Makie isn't a human of the normal kind leading to indifference. Hell, indifference might be a good outcome compared to xeno(?)-phobia.

I don't see it being too much of a stretch since people are dicks a lot of the time too.

Takao's bit is nice. Iona's crew has been going "let's go to Iwoto and repair/restock! It's a friendly base!" and then Takao shows up and gets attacked by some non-human intelligence.

But ting that aside and puting aside difference from manga, I guess I liked it, but I wonder what kind of magic vibration warhead hidding to be "more powerfull than corrosive torpedo".

So far I am suprisingly content with changes, not everything is to my liking but it IS solid anime with own appeal.

A good episode overall. Haruna and Makie were an interesting duo to watch. Honorable mention to Kirishima . Talk about a change of situation. Going from powerful ship to carrot eating stuffed toy.

That government sure knows how to create its own enemies. Odd that I feel bad for the Toujuurou considering he cared over 100 artificial kids all but one of which died. Though at the same time if it wasn't for that Makie wouldn't be alive at all...I do wonder what Haruna will do exactly especially if that girl does require special care in order to stay alive. All that medication can't be for show.

Will say that Takao bit was pretty entertaining . All upbeat and then someone just unleashes hell upon her . Good thing she's a pretty tough ship all things considered.

I like how hey are showing Kirishima and Haruna becoming more human: note the banter and teasing of one another.

The coat is almost certainly made out of nanomaterials. You could say it's a part of her "body." It quite likely is a vital resource for her to continue functioning.

Also it seems more like a security blanket than modesty. She didn't seem ashamed to open it and be seen in her underwear as long as she still had it on.
