Signature upload problem
i need help. i have 1 image for signature however i cant upload from my pc. its says This is not a valid image file.
i would like to copy in here but they dont even alow that. it is in paint format - BMP what i do ?[ Last edited by rafael1932; 2010-10-26 at 19:10. |

First, let's get your question in the proper place.
Second, since the signature size limit is 50,000 bytes (BMP files are normally way too large to be used), you will need to save your pic in either .jpg, .gif or .png formats at 50,000 bytes or less for it to be accepted. Does this help? edit: ninja'd! |

^I don't think it' because of the file size (maybe only if it's very very large), otherwise we wouldn't be able to break sig rules I think it's because you can't upload bmp format files here on AS.

It isn't actually documented properly what file types you can upload (at least not on the upload form itself nor the admin control panel), but BMP is not a "Web" format. It's a Windows format.
Web formats are JPEG (or JPG), PNG and GIF. In addition to being supported by just about every browser on every OS (which BMP is not!), these formats also support compression which means you can upload images with higher resolution and detail (though do keep it within the signature size limitations please - check the forum rules). |
