Mamoru gets away from the village as he thinks his life is threatened, and it's not unfounded. The rest of the gang search for Mamoru and find him. Maria decides to run away with Mamoru, saying to Saki that Mamoru is not as strong as Saki and needs someone to be with. Their remains are found a few years later but Saki is not informed on it at the time. How they died is not told in the novel but most likely they were killed by Squealer after Maria gave a birth to Mamoru's child.

Its not definite the aki is maria and mamoru's child though thats the most likely explanation. Furthermore the queerats r not villains, they are merely mutated humans without pk who realises the truth thus wishes to reclaim the world back from the humans who destroyed it in the first place.

Does Squealer then actually go ahead to do what he did to his queen to Maria....? :s Since the question what would happen was brought up this episode...
Or do they just kill her after having one kid?
