Just watched...

Amazing. The entire episode was nearly all flashback on what has happened up to now, narrated by Mitsuki to a friend (funnily enough I don't remember who she is).

Well the basic story is still there but woth some changes (naturally). It seems like Taka didn't become a bum right after Haruka's coma but instead he visited her everyday until it became creepy the amount of time he does, spent talking to Haruka.

Then the parents told Taka that he should come anymore. He then become a bum (but not as much as the oroginal Taka) so Mitsuki sacrificed herself to take care of him. But he then starts to act freaky again by satisfying himself though looking at the hospital Haruka was in every day, standing outside. And everyday he would come back with a big smile on his face (the nutcase has gone nuts! >.>).

Well Mitsuki then devoted more of herself to helping Taka as she pulls him to places (you know, like the shopping). Over time, Taka begun to stop going to the hospital everyday and turning more and more into a human again.

Here is another difference. After all this time, Taka thanks Mitsuki for everything she has done and that he is now fine. He thanks her by taking her out to places, but it seems like he has litte romantic feelings for her. Even though they do end up hugging and kissing after Mitsuki had her hair cut. I guess Mitsuki was happy enough just being with him.

It seems like they also made a promise that they will separate when Haruka wakes up. Of all the promises he can keep, he kept this one Haruka wakes up and he goes back to her. Mitsuki is still in denial but she can't do anything seens as Taka begins to act coldly towards her. He wouldn't even eat the breakfast she prepared.

Mitsuki gives up (somewhat) but overhears Taka crying in pain on the rooftop being torn between the two girls. He breaks up with Mitsuki soon but she understands and accepts with no resistant. She leaves her with the keys and asks for a last request. she doesn't want him to throw away the cup or her things(?) (not a selfish request right?).

Well she leaves and we have a crying fest.

My inner fanboy is hurting as well ;___;

Mitsuki meets Haruka and gives her flowers (I take it that was the day she was allowed to leave ~ back in ep 1). Mitsuki tells Haruka to be happy with Taka and all the usual sentimental stuff. Haruka cries, jumps into her chest and apologises. Mitsuki cries but tells her to pull herself together and that she will always remember her friends. Don't apologies etc

And on that note, the ep pretty much ends with Mitsuki drinking her woes away with this friend.

Taka was talking with Shinji and apparently Taka will do everything he can. Will he do things proper? XD

When watching I did think that perhaps Mitsuki would make a comeback and how funny it would be to watch people riot :P

But by the end of this I figured she was just shown to tell the story. The story that everyone was screaming for in the first ep about the massive gap from the coma to the resolution.

The chances of her to come back are low really, I think she was in a different town altogether. *sigh* but seeing her with long hair again was such a treat.



Now it's just up to Taka to sort things out in his own little world.

after reading deathkillz summary id lol at the haruka fanboys if taka was to understand that mitsuki is by far the best choice and returns to her at the end of the OVA.
after all those years the haruka fans have been waiting to see their hopes of seeing haruka end up with taka fullfilled it would be one hell of a bitchslap in the face of the fanbase.

if i was taka i m sure i d be able to talk some sense in both girls and teach them that loving is sharing, so they should both share him :3

I'm not sure that Haruka fans wouldn't be particularly happy with it ~ but dear god don't raise the banners of war again

As much as amusing it might be to gloat over the prospects of the enemies other fanbase having their "hopes" crushed, i am going to ask to leave such behavior out of this thread. It isn't constructive and doesn't offer anything to the discussion besides serving as a potential flamebait.

It's nice to see Mitsuki get some serious screentime, and I think this episode does a lot in showing her side of the story.

The fact of the matter is that I knew a lot of people on forums who were not very sympathetic to Mitsuki as a character. There was a stereotype of Mitsuki being a "tramp", "bitch", and whatever other colorful words you can come up with for dissing a girl, because the perception was that she stole Takayuki from Haruka.

So it's nice to see the story from Mitsuki's point of view, and I think Episode 2 did a nice job framing her in such a way that it's hard to walk away from the episode and not form a sympathetic opinion of her. And it's well deserved.

As much as a Haruhi fan as I am, I'm somewhat fearing what would happen if the two got back together. I mean he was stalking her before AND after she woke up! And if I didn't feel bad for Mitsuki before I do now, I mean not even eating her food? He pretty much wants nothing to do with Mitsuki and everything to do with Haruhi.

@Skyfall even though i always prefered mitsuki's character back when KGNE was airing, i m not the type to join a fanbase, i actually tend to stay as far away as possible from flagraising cause it truely clouds one's ability to judge a serie. i watch a show for the story, not to see my hopes to have x ending with y fullfilled, i could careless about who ends up with who as long as it s well written.
my comment was more a sarcastic comment to make fun of flagwielders as their bickering is an endless source of entertainement.

anyway reguarding this second eps i m looking forward to the subs.

Hey I went through it and kind of jogged my memory of what this series was all about, giving a new spin to the word depressing ushering it into another demension.

At the end of this episode I believe it was Haruka's sister that came out. Is there going to be a cat fight between sisters now?

DK, some minor corrections to your summary:

Mistuki and Takayuki did become a couple even in this alternate story. Basically it can be assumed that up to episode 13 (and all the angst that went with it! )of the original series still happened, with a minor change that Takayuki saw Shinji together with a drunk Mistsuki...

In the end Takayuki had come to a decision, in this case it was Mitsuki's turn to show strength and let go...

Mitsuki's friend was a former swim team member also, she wasn't in the old series afaik...

As for Akane in the last shot, I'll bet she's the focus next ep, presumably to beat sense into both Haruka and Takayuki!

Spoiler for my thoughts:

Takayuki certainly is a different man in this alternate world. He recognized his fault of being too concentrated (clingy?) on Haruka on ep1 and is willingly putting distance between them so he can find his own dream but still be together with Haruka... good for him

Akane really does have a crush on Takayuki; she's one of the heroines in the original game after all. In fact...

In the game, Takayuki can make a choice of sleeping with Akane while Haruka was in a coma. Talk about sister stealing your boyfriend

You either wasn't paying a lot of attention to the original series, or your memory needs to a jolt...

Because all the flashback events by Mitsuki in this episode also happened in the original TV series too.

Yes, that includes Takayuki visiting and talking to Haruka while she was in a coma, and the whole stuff about not eating and Mitsuki taking care of her.

If you watch the TV series again, you realized that Takayuki hit rock bottom the minute Haruka's father asked him not to see Haruka any more (because it's destroying his mental health).

It's only after that event that Mitsuki finally gathered up her courage, begged Takayuki to be normal again, and admitted to him that she loves him. That confession by Mitsuki brought Takayuki out of his funk, and that's also when Takayuki finally accepted her and they became a couple.

Fail to see the uselessness of an episode spent catching the viewers up-to-speed, especially in how certain things did change from the original telling. As well as it also expanding on the choices Mitsuki made.

For example...

Takayuki wasn't told to stop seeing Haruka at the hospital because it was causing him to shun other aspects of his life, it was because he became rather delusional and dangerous to Haruka...

I'm still trying to piece together a few of the alternatives that were told in this story compared to that of the original.
