Out of all of Shinkai's works, I didn't expect this one to be turned into a TV series.
Given that Shinkai doesn't seem to be involved in this, this feels more like a publicity stunt than anything else. I'll still watch it hoping it'll have at least a little of the charm of the original.

I enjoyed the original movie ... but am curious what they would do with the series. Perhaps "unpack" the narrative to include more details?
Well, will give it a try at least.

I think Shinkai's actual involvement in this is zero, as far as anyone can tell...

Episode 1:
Finished watching it. That was ...well, better than I had expected to be in terms of narratives and especially the music. From the viewpoint of a cat, I think it tells a lot about how it lives every day.

Ep 01
Yes indeed. A good beginning. I wonder how thoroughly it will "unpack" the dense narrative of the original? Four and a half minutes to thirty (well, 24 minus the ED time of each ep) is the ratio, but after it is over I might watch Shinkai's short movie again to compare and contrast.... I liked the ED. ^^

Going by the opening sequence and the cat's age, I'm pretty sure he's going to die at the end of the show. I'm not looking forward to it.
Anyway, it was good. It respected the spirit of Shinkai's original work. Shame it's just a short. And a short short at that.
