Both. "Bromances" were the actual romances in the past, because in some ancient cultures women were not considered people as men were: they were possessions. That's part of the reason why Gilgamesh treats Saber as nothing but an object. He has that, let's say, old fashioned cultural viewpoint.

It's impressive how popular and abundant Gil x Enkidu fanart is, considering Enkidu only makes one real canon appearance in that brief flashback in Fate/Zero. I wish there was more of him, because he's sort of the crux to Gilgamesh's character and was clearly very influential to how Gil ended up becoming the man we see in the Holy Grail Wars.
An OVA depicting their adventures in Ancient Mesopotamia and eventual parting would be nice. As long as it focused on studying their characters and not on pandering to fujoshi, of course. |
