The Classic Rock Thread! (Recommend/Discuss)

The Classic Rock Thread

Bringing back the good old days for music!

Welcome, everyone! Remember that fabulous time known as the 70s? How about the 80s? Of course you do! It was a golden age for music - Wurlitzer keyboards, guitar harmonies and over-the-top creative lyrics were just a few things available in this age. We're not talking about rock like Red Hot Chili Peppers here. We're talking about straight up classic rock - bands like Boston, Toto, and Steely Dan! Originally, this thread would have included the genre of classic pop, but since pop is just short for popular, I figure good "pop/rock" bands like ABBA and The Beatles are naturally included.

Well, every day I will post a new song in this genre, but hopefully anybody else that enjoys this music can discuss and share their own opinions/songs as well! And please remember...it's the classic rock thread

I shall be lurking this thread for music because I am sure great things are bound to show up. I listened to the stuff my father put on growing up, but I don't know the song names or who does them. However, I remember the songs themselves and how they sound. So I hope to take a trip down memory lane.

^ Love this song! Eric Clapton surely is a guitar god. Surprisingly, our local radio had one moment of saving grace when it played this song~

Nice songs but I'm pretty sure Ozzy and Judas Priest are metal, not classic rock

But with metal being rock genre and those being classic songs, I thought they were good choices.

Here are two more:

Metal is in the rock genre? It's news to me~ (In fact, I think I saw a metal music thread on here somewhere *looks around*) But yeah, nice picks for these songs - these are basically what I meant^^

Here's some of my favourites (only a taste of the greatness of Rock 'n' Roll):

Zappa was the end all be all for me for quite awhile, and "Willie the Pimp" (from Zappa's first solo album) is a simply amazing song (hell, the entire album is gold).

Humble Pie was a perfect blend of Steve Marriot's bluesy folk/country and Peter Frampton's city/rock, "Home And Away" (from their 69 album Town and Country) is a great example of their perfect blend of genres.

Listening to this, while stoned, will open a doorway into the beyond, especially around 2:20 when Mandrake unleashes its sitar, and transports the listeners to a Psychedelic Spaceship in the sky...

Faces, from Steve Marriot's Samll Faces, was a wondefully rough and sloppy rock 'n' roll band. Sadly, too many are turned off by the fact that Rod Stewart was the lead singer to give this wonderful band a chance.

T.Rex...they had everything. Rock, glam, funk, punk, grundge, all of this and more owes so much to T.Rex's it's not even funny. "20th Century Boy" was their last great song (though not their last song), and one of their best.
