I'm still collecting riddles and will continue to do so while people are still interested in participating. Even after this run of the hunt has started and completed, because if the interest is there we'll probably have another run of 20 afterwards.

Well, this is certainly interesting. Oddly enough, I looked at this site earlier and noticed the Scavenger Hunt in the General Chat section, though I had no time to post some response... then I got that message at the top... hehe, that kinda got me worried for a few seconds. But yeah, count me in.

Anyway, I have a question. So, on making the riddles... Basically, the riddles must lead to a certain topic/thead/page, or any combination of those? And, the URL to that page/thread whatever, is the answer to the riddle?

In order to clarify the process I think I'll post a riddle that someone submitted earlier today. It needed some modification to work properly in this context, so I'll use it to demonstrate the general idea and the sensible boundaries of the contest. We'll consider it a trial run.

* SAMPLE RIDDLE *
Transient, noticed by few,
Above the answers I perch.
Travel there by sentinel,
To find me you must search.

Longer than you might think,
Free me with a name.
Hobbitsis knows the password,
Signposted by a game:

This key all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

Text in blue was added/edited by me in order to make the riddle work within the bounds of this contest. The point here being that the riddle must be specific to the forum. Taking an existing riddle and extending it is fine, but original is better.

If you can solve the riddle great; if not I'll explain it showing the sort of information needed in a submission. I'll also explain why the answer is possibly not the best sort of URL to select and why the original author's URL is inadmissible (I picked a similar one to demonstrate the point).

On writing riddles? No, because that contest wasn't run quite the same way. They created all the riddles themselves, as a closed group, and presented them to the forum. Even the staff didn't necessarily know the answers. So there was no general submission of riddles. I'm doing it this way because I can't write as many good riddles as the forum as a whole could. Basically everything you see if the other thread is all that anyone outside the Kazoo Club ever saw.
