I hope this is the right thread >.> I finally just finished reading Muv-Luv Alternative for the first time, after having first started the series (with Extra) in July of last year. Over all, I enjoyed it. It's far from perfect, if you ask me, but pretty good.

It probably has to do with the sheer hype that TE had (at least in Japan); people were really waiting on next full-fledged Alternative VN...to be completely fair, it's not all crap, because thankfully it seems faithful to LN part, which takes up like a half of the game.
After that...it's pretty much ME3 ending all over again, this time in Japanese.

It has nothing to do with "ending it fairly", the post-LN sequence is plain badly written nonsense piled atop of age being jerks. There are other ways of ending game on ambiguous manner, while leaving open space for DLCs/next games/whatever.

The real problem is that TE had a lot of potential, and from the footage I've seen (the first half of the game anyway), it's still there.
Then "VN original content" hits like a truck. Not all of the ideas they had are inherently bad though, just most of them are poorly handed. *shrug* But what happened, happened, and I'm perfectly fine at stopping the story at the point where my TE-centred TSFiA magazines do.

I was going to post some, but A.) I wanted to wait til I was sure I was in the right thread, and B.) I was too tired and decided to just go to sleep, lol. I'm gonna use spoiler tags just in case, since this is just a general thread.
Spoiler for Muv-Luv Spoilers (for all 3 parts of the visual novel):
Over all, I'd give Extra a 6/10, Unlimited a 4/10, and Alternative a 7/10, I think. It was pretty good. Worth the time sink. Oh, and Marimo is the best waifu, closely followed by Yuuko. None of the others can compare. Isumi and Munakata were pretty hot, though. |

Muv-Luv Alternative takes the characters from other Age games like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (Haruka and Mitsuki) and Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu (Michiru). Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu has 2 version the old 1999 version and the newer 2011 version. The 2011 version of Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu comes with a DL route for Munakata and Touko as well as a Muv-Luv Side story called Muv-Luv Alternative Chronicles.

That gives us more time to pray that Yuzuka will get a happy ending.
Seriously, being a Yamato Nadeshiko main heroine hurts. Poor Meiya got friendzoned so hard, even Sumika fans were aghast. Poor Yui defrosted into Jelly... right in time for the world to shit on her. And now Yuzuka's probably dying hence it's a goodbye kiss from Hibiki. Pray for Yuzuka, everyone.

Being either happy genki girl or Yamato Nadeshiko is an instant bullet attractor in Muv-Luv. Just look at Meiya, Tama, Katja, Yui...
Kouki hates all the best girls, definitely. Here's to hoping that Yuzuka at least gets to go gracefully...
