Spoiler for Episode 3:
Also wanted to reply to one little bit (replying to the whole post won't profit anyone):

[....] that scene kinda suggested that he never really thought much about her. Which is rather sad, since there were so many events in the middle of the first season that suggest otherwise. It's either inconsistent from Yoshiyuki or inconsistent from the writers, but either way, it's uncompassionate from Yoshiyuki.
I really didn't see it that way at all. What Yoshiyuki demonstrated in that episode (and in episode 13 of the first season) is an uncertainty about how to act towards Koko since he recognizes that he hurt her feelings. In other words, I don't think he feels he has the right to think about whether he loves her or not at this point, given what he put her through. In both episode 13 and 1, he was sort of walking on egg-shells, not believing it possible that Koko truly "got over it", while Koko has been trying her darnedest to put on a brave face and show that she really wants things to go back to the way they once were. I'm just not sure how Yoshiyuki's behaviour can be perceived as "apathy", when he's deliberately trying to be aware of his impact on her (i.e. he feels guilty). I don't see any inconsistnecy from either Yoshiyuki or the writers, nor doing I see it as being "uncompassionate". I honestly don't know how we read the emotions of that episode so differently (then again, that's why I said I didn't think it would profit anyone for me to reply to the rest of the post either -- totally different worlds, or something).

In general, it seems to me that you're worrying about a lot of minor details that (generally) don't greatly impact the plot...

Thanks a lot for your help. Now the puppet show part is much clearer for me.
Also I just figured, the verb 'to spell' is irregular. At first I put it wrong and I even woke up in the morning because of that.
I'm worrying about minor details because I was asked to make a translation and I'm typing the script at the moment. So I completely miss the part with TV report, probably the most difficult point in the episode.
Of course the general idea is usually clear but my level of japanese is far from getting all the words.

so D.C.II.SS. 'll be about Otome & Yoshiyuki, just as expected ^o^ I just 've seen some spoiler about Otome route, and it's really touched

On top of that, Sakura'll also play an important role in this serie XD

Well, I feel like a disclaimer is in order... If it's anything important, please don't simply take my word for it... I think it would be better to consult someone truly fluent in Japanese, which I don't know that anyone posting here truly claims to be. I certainly don't; I can only give you my best guess...

But anyway your comments were pretty much to the point. Thanks a lot, indeed. I managed to catch the words and got almost all the phrases correctly.
By the way, the second part is much easier for understanding. But that TV report is a real challenge, it can still be improved.
If only people figured to make scripts, that would make things much easier.

Spoiler for translation:

Spoiler for my take:

actually, I'm surprised how hard it is to translate some simple, everyday lines! Even today I'm confused how to answer when people ask me what "ganbatte" litterally means (don't give up!, fight hard!, keep it up! the list goes on...)

Spoiler for Anzu:

Well, i'm done with this episode, on the whole.
However if you feel like it, mind to make a script for TV report, from 8.17 to 8.30?
I'd be very happy because this way I could present word-for word translation.

yes, that's what I meant in my translation of that conversation, sorry if I made it confusing, I'll edit it accordingly

Also, I'll try translating the news reports, I wasn't paying much attention to what was being said, all I thought was "okay, more problems are popping up all over the island"

Edit:
couldn't get it all, but roughly:

Glad to help

I'm still learning, right now I'm at a point where I'm comfortable conversing with japanese only speakers and capable of reading some novels (for practise, I'm currently reading the latest full metal panic novel along with a couple of mangas). But still, I've got a long way to go, vocabulary and kanji are my biggest weaknesses, and things like this help me a lot

Thanks for the help on the second line, Let's help each other out again sometime
