Well...Haru's not getting it. She obviously wants Haru for a boyfriend but she's stuck with Taku. So she's resorting to throwing herself at him only for it not to connect. Haru needs to end it but he's indecisive.
I'm not getting what's wrong with Taku.

Good episode, thanks to Blood Leopard!
So she can not only absorb the Special gauge of others, but also their health. That's certainly very useful. Haru made a little step forward again, instead whining he's using his head for thinking and research, for once! He even finds out that Noumi has a brain implant chip. Then, however, his arrogance got the better of him once again. The prudent thing would've been informing the Police of Noumi's illegal brain implant chip. Noumi loses his trump card with the chip and is kicked out of the school for cheating etc. School isn't willing to listen to an expelled student anymore, so Noumi's video (which wasn't all that great to begin with) would be totally worthless. Without chip, Noumi couldn't hide anymore, so they would be easily able to track him down and then finish him off. They wouldn't even need to hurry and could simply wait until Kuroyukihime returned, as Noumi wouldn't be able to hide away anymore. Sadly, Haru's arrogance once took over, making him do stupid things, like wanting to do anything all by himself. The last time when Haru's arrogance took overhand and he decided to drag out the battle rather than finishing Noumi, he lost his wings. Too bad he didn't learn from that and still can't control his arrogance. If it wasn't for Taku, he would get handed his ass to him on a platter once again. Concerning IS, I think it's greatly influenced by the emotions you have while activating it, and apparently it even magnifies these emotions. If you activate it with a sane state of mind, it's safe. If however you activate it full of hate, the hate is magnified more and more, until it will drive you insane in the end. That's how Chrome Disaster was created - its user always used IS full of hate, and the hate drove him insane and eventually even took a solid form. This is also what happened to Haru. He used IS full of hate (for Noumi), and the hate was magnified and was starting to drive him insane. As such, the effects we saw were not related to CD at all, but instead the normal effects of what IS does to you when you use it when full of hate, and those effects can happen to anyone when using IS full of hate - which is why IS is kept secret. What Chiyu wants is pretty much a harem She wants Haru, but at the same time she also wants to keep Taku - both at the same time. As for Chiyu's motives - she's seeing that her harem (Haru and Taku) is growing ever more distant to her, and she thinks it's because of the game. As there's a huge difference between her and Haru/Taku in levels, she probably wants to level up as quickly as she can, no matter what it takes, even if it means teaming up with that sleazy Noumi.

Wait. Could Chiyu's motives be to uncover how they do what they do, their secret organization, which members are on it, and any secret techniques they may have? Nah, I don't think Chiyu's that clever. Besides, Haru already figured out the "how they do what they do" part.
Which reminds me, if incarnate system is what created Chrome Disaster, creating a will of its own, doesn't that mean that incarnate system can also override that desire if the desire is strong enough? Hence, in the end, Haru could tame Chrome Disaster and make it his own if his will is strong enough in the right direction.

I'm pretty sure that Haru's decision not to report Noumi has nothing to do with arrogance, Shima, but mercy. Haru's starting to gain a sense of compassion for Noumi, as made obvious by his conversation with Taku, and I think he's simply a good person that doesn't want to ruin someone's life unless it's absolutely necessary. At this point, I don't think Haru's arrogant nor particularly down on himself like he was at the series' beginning; I think he has a pretty healthy sense of self-respect and self-confidence. |

Some points - First on Haru, and then on Chiyu.
I think we all know the meta reason why Haru confronted Noumi instead of just going to the police. Would people here really be satisfied with Noumi simply being dragged away by the police after all the build-up this arc has received? Personally, I'd find that *very* anti-climatic, and a serious letdown. So no, this should end the proper Accel World way - With a burst link fight to the finish! Haru confronting Noumi is a necessary part of setting up that fight. Sometimes in entertainment you actually should take the less realistic course of action because that simply leads into better and more satisfying entertainment. Now, just to be clear, I certainly don't hate Chiyu. In fact, I paradoxically find a lot of tragic sadness and humor in her character. The tragic sadness is that, for all the NTR jokes*, Chiyu has consistently shown a great desire to be with Haru. But as others have pointed out, it's just too late for Chiyu now, as Haru has clearly dedicated himself to KYH. This is strongly evidenced by just how firmly and decisively he was able to turn down Chiyu's exceedingly clear sexual advances in this episode (this is obviously one time where Chiyu really was aiming to sexually arouse another cast member; obliviousness isn't the issue here). So I feel a bit sorry for Chiyu, because if she hadn't entered into an obvious fake romance with Taku, and had instead been more open with Haru before, she may well have been in a romance with Haru now (which is what she wants). But it's too late for that, so this is a sad case of missed opportunity for Chiyu. She's something of a tragic figure, really. OTOH, only Chiyu would think that now of all times would be a good time to sexually throw herself at Haru. There's some humor there to be sure. * Maybe I'm not reading it right, but I think the whole "NTR Queen" thing is just a running joke on how Chiyu has this tendency to play guys off against one another (albeit mostly unintentionally). Chiyu clearly isn't guilty of actual NTR, but it is kind of funny how she constantly develops shifting allegiances and associations with most of the major male characters in the show. She's like someone who somehow stumbles her way into being a femme fatale, while not really intending it, and there's some humor there.

The awesome tie-in to Sword Art Online was the best. You gotta love it when the author totally cross-references his own works.
Simply great, since I'm watching both the anime and reading the novels (for both Accel World and SAO).

It isn't NTR anything, both she and Taku are single now. Taku is still in love with her (obviously), but she clearly has strong feelings for Haru. This was even discussed the episode Haru lost his wings, when he got all crazy while talking to Taku afterwards.

Looking at things, I also get the feeling Haru really wants to solve everything before KYH gets back, to prove to her and himself that he's capable.
Also, really really needs more Niko and Leopard. Also, even if anything happens to Haru, note the reins that KYH picked up in Okinawa. I figure those might come in handy...

Anyway, as of episode 9, they still seem to be going out, since Taku mentioned that he and Chiyu were not as lovey dovey in public like Haru and KYH were. However, in episode 15, during Haru's blame on Taku during their 1-to-1 talk, Haru mentions to Taku that Taku still wants to get Chiyu back and be her boyfriend. The break-up was never mentioned otherwise.
