Simoun Blog has an update on ep18 now! Seems like it's going to another Paraietta-centered episode?
Also, Offical site opens up another poll.... on your favorite MALE characters in Simoun. There are total seven characters: Harukonfu (Nevi's dad) Anubitufu (capt. of Arcus Prima) Guraghief (commander of simouns on Arcus Prima) Waporifu (you know) Waufu (Messis's captain) The field commander in ep11 Along with ep11, (the guy floe likes..) Mastifu? For I am kinda curious of who people will vote on. Last edited by duster_Fukku; 2006-07-29 at 15:58. |

Wauf 31.1% Waporif 31.1% Anubituf 14.0% Guraghief 13.1% Mastif's captain 5.5% Mastif 2.9% Harukonf 2.2% And thanks to warainagara for identifying which pair flies which simoun. Looking at them, I can almost see how the simoun is like the pair.

Elly has personality as Erif Episode 2 Elly and Neviril at "the spring" "He" Erif weep (crying ?) because of his gender was determind by "Temps-Spatium" not his own will.... Still, at least Wapourif will have Morinas to console him (if he grows a clue and stops being so nervous, at least). |

Sometimes a week is a long time. To get ready for ep18 (broadcast in about 14 hours), I just watched ep17 again and was completely bowled over again. What an episode. What a show. What next?
Yes, bring back Erif. I liked her/him, and would like to see more of her as a him, partly to see how the staff would do that. I'm not sure if we've seen these before or not, but here are some more model drawings by AS (Nishida Asako, the character designer) from the image board. From the dates, it looks as if all the drawings of people and simouns are from late January. So perhaps the animators got to work starting two months ahead of time to have the animation ready by April? Alti. I believe the notes near the top left say she is cold (unemotional) and "cool," but that the other side of that is that she is too pure, and a bit eccentric. The balloon near the right says: "Kaimu is mine." And lower down is "eyes like Kaimu's": Aaeru. I can't read all the notes on these images, but you can see a lot of annotated details about the eyes at the bottom middle of the third one: And having seen these, I'm wondering who actually did the simoun drawings I posted earlier. Everything has what I think are AS's initials on it, but that might just be approving the models. I think the story is that the mecha designer, Jin Seob Song, was working in a studio in Korea. The director had some work there, and Song came up and showed him drawings of simoun. The director was looking for something totally new and loved them. But maybe some of the details were added by AS? To my untutored eye, the simoun and the characters could have been drawn by the same person.

The Pinkubentobox blog has a large-scale color image of Neviril traced from an eyecatch. What they say about the complexity of the drawing is interesting. They also have other Simoun posts: one with an image of Aaeru and one expressing how baffled they are by the show's lack of popularity. Me, too. Episode 18 just started, and the real-time threads on 2channel are flying, at about a post a second. Here are the first few caps (no real spoilers): Spoiler for ep18:

Ep 17.
I'm really excited for upcoming eps in getting to understand the entire worldview and [colonial] (I assume) history, now that they've reached the ruins. Regarding the mysterious new Simoun, that comment about the RAF was fitting...I think Simouns are made at an assembly plant, only that it's a 'holy' assembly plant. But they are then customized later on. Kinda like the RAF Tornado F.3, GR1 (now defunct), and upgraded GR4s. They are differentiated by their nosecones, I think also their tailfins, and some have ceremonial markings or tiger stripes. Similarly with Simoun spine decor. Simouns may look handcrafted, but their availability and reliability is legendary* and that simply isn't possible unless they have spare parts. If all they needed was just to polish the darn things or push-pull on some widgets, then they don't need talent like Wapourif at all. But now along come 'stealth' V-shaped engine configuration Simoun! (is this like the word 'sheep' or 'fish' where the plural has no 's'? I like how they made everything this ep seem more realworld dogfight-like. Like when they were about to take off from the hangar amidst the audible hum of turbofans starting up. Also when they used machine guns to engage the maneuverable 'stealth simoun' (sorry if they aren't really stealth or if in fact they are older replicas instead of newer reverse-engineered simouns---that's the mystery :P). Thanks Kaoru for the link of different Ri Maajons...hmmm got me thinking if the technical designer got the idea from sitting in a humdrum computer lab all day looking at screensavers ~ *flight performance all depends on the copilots moe~ factor towards each other!
