In the words of M. Bison, "YES! YES!!!!"

...though I have to wait for my copy to cross the Pacific, so other people's rips of it will have to suffice for now.

So they did manage to get Kanemoto Hisako to sing the whole thing. I suppose it's a given seeing how popular it was, but they probably recorded it even before Episode 8 aired.

Nobody wanted to sing it in German. When Tanaka Rie sang "Lili Marleen", she sang it in Japanese.

If a song as popular as "Battle Hymn of the Republic" doesn't get vocals, it's going to be slim pickings for anything else. They might have vocal versions if an OST 2 comes out (although I don't see how that's possible).

Actually, I was kind of hoping Panzerlied to be sang as Black Forest's school anthem with a different (slightly or not) lyric in Japanese.

There, corrected for ya!

But hey... if Katusha gets that treatment, its kind of expected that Panzerlied, which was written with lyrics in mind, to receive the same treatment as well.

Someone handily translated the names of the tracks from the OST:

One is instrumental, the other is voiced.

I was watching Episode 10.5 again, and noticed that they mixed up when they present Suzuki and Tsuchiya from the Leopon team.

And speaking of it, I rewatched the series recently and a couple of nights ago in my dreams I was hearing Katyusha being sung in a loop. >.<

We thought that they were making a WoT reference when a favorite tank was the TOG II*, but they also made the Black Prince someone else's favorite. That is almost as obscure.

10.5 was not bad as a recap episode done in a hurry.

Kanemoto Hisako can't sing in Russian either, but that didn't stop them.

Why would they go to the trouble of that when they didn't do it for any of the other schools.

I'm pretty sure that both Battle Hymn of the Republic and Katyusha are more famous as leitmotif for their respective countries. Panzerlied, on the other hand, is barely known outside of its military connotations (and Erika is more famous for that anyways).

There aren't anywhere near enough Soviet tanks, although Nonna's choice of SU-100 is as typical as you'd expect.

Yep, it's a lot better than 5.5. It packs in all sorts of details about tanks and tank combat they couldn't fit into the episodes. I also like that they mixed up the order of the scenes a bit rather than doing a straight summary of events.

Maybe she tried hard enough like Cure Peace on Smile ep.41.

Katyusha's selection of the KV-2 fit her character rather well also.
