Oh, man, what a great episode. My heart was pounding the whole time. Hara Yumi (Yuuko) was outstanding. Now that's voice acting. Her "tasukenasai!" was heart-breaking in so many ways.

this episode was great, it really managed to grab me with how things were done, how i didnt expect things to happen the way the did, and the reason of the existence of shadow yuuko, this series managed to get to the top of my favorites this season.

That was a painful experience to watch. Just watching someone so kind and caring be sacrificed makes me want to rip some heads out. I shudder to think how long she had to endure the slow death of malnutrition and dehydration. >.<

God, those people are damned moron, idiots and imbeciles. Sacrificing a person for such a belief?

I would have buy it if they used a person's corps to fertilize a field to increase its fertility.

I wished them dead, stupid old man, they're so wise that they don't know what is sanilty anymore.!!!!

In the end, curiosity got the better of me.

Everything went as expected. And no rape, which was a relief... somewhat.

Now, just a medical perspective, a young fit girl should not break a long bone, or 2, by falling down a flight of stairs. But Yuuko broke both tibia AND fibula, indicating that she had disease in one of those bones.

Back then, consumption was a silent killer, but some virulent strains can run amok and kill very quickly. Taking that together with her strange fracture from a low-impact injury...

Yuuko's murderer has been revealed! It was TUBERCULOSIS!!

The second Teiichi said he could feel everything she could I instantly knew that there wouldn't be any rape involved.

It really all depends on the way you fall. A person can easily break an arm from simply tripping and falling on the ground the wrong way. I've seen free-runners get absurd injuries from small falls and others get no injuries from long falls.

They contributed to the murder, since mild TB meningitis and toxoplasmosis (carried by that black cat) is associated with magical thinking and psychosis.

But that's just me being sarcastic as a psychological defense against this episode.

My god, seeing Yuko like that made me so sad inside.

Seeing someone as nice as her suffer a slow painful death, and hell not getting mad during her last moments.

I think that throwing a girl into a basement as a sacrifice and leaving her to die down there is straight up murder regardless of what diseases she might be affected with. Their intention was to serve her up as a sacrifice so killing her was on the agenda from the moment Asa spoke her name. But hey...that's just me...

Also...I wonder what happened to Asa after that. The elders couldn't risk releasing the girl and having her tell everyone else what they have done, plus the fact that Yuuko's body was still there 60 years later means that her sister never found out her exact location. So either they killed Asa, took her away or kept her away until she died from the plague.

I thought to myself, Teiichi you better steel yourself cause this ride is going to hurt. Yuuko such a tragic ending, she's trying to do the right and nice thing but ended up getting in the crossfire of the situation. Shame and curses on those people that fell to hysteria and panic! Now I got a question about the shrine. A mirror is enshrined in it so are there any Japanese mythical lore that relates to mirrors? __________________
