I think it's cool how in Umineko, things are paced in such a way that even though there are loads of characters, it doesn't become overwhelming.

I mean, imagine what it would've been like if all these characters had been there right from the beginning of the story.

This seems like an interesting find. If nothing else, this should serve as a change of pace after Umineko and Higurashi. For now, it doesn't look like this will have much supernatural elements to it, but considering Ryukishi's previous works, there may very well still be.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to this title for now and hope that some translation group picks this up when it comes out.

Oh, and is it just me or does the art style jump from one character to another? Will the inconsistent character designs show up in the game proper itself, I wonder?

The characters were designed by three different artists (one of them being Ryuukishi07). Therefore their different art styles are are reflected in the drawings. We don't know what the game will actually look like yet, but I'm guessing that the characters will remain that way.

Oh, I'm pretty sure a translation group will pick this up.

That's too bad.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad that the character designs will be a step up compared to the stuff in Umineko, but is it really so hard to come up with a consistent art style for everything? No matter how I think of it, it's a rather weird call to make. Anyway, that won't stop me from wanting to read this since the setting seems interesting enough.

I think it's a conscious decision to have three different art styles. Perhaps each art style is used for a certain group of characters?

I Agree with Yirba I was apprehensive at the start too cause Ryukishi07's Style is quite unique but check out these colored images I think they did a excellent job of blending the styles

I love seeing the colored character designs, even Ryukishi07's. I don't think his own coloring style works too well with his drawings. His work usually looks great when colored by someone else. I remember one of the Higurashi books had some art done by him, but colored by another artist... and it was a very nice combination.

As promised, 07th Expansion has released the PV of RoseGunsDays, right on midnight like ougon patches.

It really didn't take long for me to like that op score.
Much more than the pictures we got recently, the HD version of the video really flesh out quite well the characters' design, more so their vibrant colors (heck, if I didn't know beforehand, I would have HARD time to realize that the likes of Alfred Akagi was in fact designed by Ryukishi). I wonder if they are also going for better resolution with RGD.

For those who are wondering, we helped 07th Expansion regarding the english translation of the quotes for the characters, as Ryukishi wanted westerner to enjoy the PV as well.
(Nope, no engrish for those who were expecting that).

I hope this so much. Something like 1280x720 would be a fresh change of pace from the usual 640x480 lo-res graphics used until now.
