No more than 1 day and night; none of the incidents in Index ever took more than around that period of time... The exception I suppose is the very first volume where Touma KO'd for 3 days.

I'm pretty sure the events of 17 and 18 took longer. In fact, I'm almost positive there was a time-skip of 4 or 5 days after they disrupted Curtana Original but before they went to attack the princess.

I love Touma's expression in that cover.

Oh, it seems I was wrong.

but only about the skip.

Vol 17 begins on Octob 10th, while vol 18 ends on the 18th.

WW3 begins on the 19th/18th, and ends 31.

違う

War proclamation (vol 20) happens in 19 / 10; and Kamijou was already in Russia there, so by your definition Touma walked / hitched rides from England to Russia in a single day? No. I think he even stated that he needed roughly a week to be there, I'll check later but I doubt that would be of use to the actual discussion.

The "waiting for Telesma to dissipate" happens only in a few hours, the best proof of that is that Laura and Elizzard started going "by foot" from where they were to the palace before that mess started, and arrived when the battle was at it's peak, absolutely nothing hints that they had to walk for several weeks and all of that was thanks to Kanzaki eating hair ~ to be named Knight ~ Mr. Horse.

Vol 17 Chapter 1: The Incongruity of Casual Conversation. Irregular_Spark.
Part 1

Morning of the 10th of October.

Chapter 5: The Mercenary and the Knight's Encounter and Clash. Another_Hero.

Part 1

October 18th, 12:30 AM.
Looking at it, it does seem a little strange. Also, 10th refers to a Itsuwa segment, but I always felt that the Itsuwa, Kanzaki and Touma segment all happened at the same time, more or less.

I mean, whats the point of giving a date if you are immediately going to skip ahead about a week?

Like I said, I was wrong about the skip being after the Curtana distablisation..

Apparently they only waited 30 mins before attacking.

I checked up on the dates. 18th is when the English civil war ends and WW3 begins. But All the stuff that actually occurs happens on the 30th/31st. Its specificlly stated that Hamazura is in russia and its the 30th, and then the next segment begins with Touma and a descreption saying its the end of October.

Just checking, do we have a thread for the 'Heavy Object' LN here on AnimeSuki? Cause I've just found the completed Chinese translation of the 3rd volume of that.

That might explain why NT2 took a while...

*goes off to read HO3*

If I were to use the manga chapter that I've seen as a comparison- It's alot less complex, it's a straight forward sci-fi world with gigantic mechas. But true to Kamachi's style, he uses normal humans to destroy Gundams

The hero is typical Kamachi material- the nice, normal, gutsy, resourceful and reliable type that always have a plan. The best friend character is just as reliable as far as Anime best friend characters go.

The female lead is... Kuudere She's a mix of a damsel and a heroine... In other words, also typical Kamachi material.

Oh yeah, and comedy- golden comedy

If you ask me, I'm gonna tell you not to bother with it. I bought volume 1 expecting it to be at least on par with Index, but I stopped reading halfway through. The world setting isn't even half as interesting as Index, and the characters are pretty forgettable. I couldn't finish reading it.

But then again, it may be just me.

I'm talking about the novel, BTW. Don't know about the manga.

Short version: Good, but not as good as Index. Think of it as about the same as the volumes after Daihaseisai but not as epic as WW3.

Long version: Badass fight scenes, a lot of tech infodump, LOADS of comedy. The main character is a cross between Hamazura and Edward Elric IMO.

The plot is disjointed (ie each novel is sort of a stand alone one, you don't really have to read the 1st to enjoy the 2nd), and not as connected as Index. There's a few 'Dark' moments that can rival the most intense mements Vol19/15 can throw at you at times, but it's few and far between. Overall this is a fairly light-hearted series, playing more on the 'Rule of Cool', comedy and maybe a dash of fanservice here and there.

I'd recommend it if you like scifi or comedy genres.

The mecha portion of Heavy Object is, by the way, designed by Shinsuke Inue.

EDIT: It's Inue, not Inui. Woah, I never expected that, Xenosnake.
